My wife and I dined at The Capital Grille in Cincinnati on Saturday, January 24th, just before the big snowfall, and the entire evening was nothing short of spectacular. I made the reservation to celebrate my birthday, and the restaurant went above and beyond — decorating our table with festive confetti and a personalized card. It was a thoughtful touch that set the tone for an unforgettable meal. We started with their beautiful bread basket accompanied by salted butter. Every piece was delicious, but the standout was the in‑house baked pumpernickel with golden raisins and walnuts. The onion ciabatta and lahvosh were fantastic as well — overall one of the best bread services we've had. For drinks, I ordered The Doli, The Capital Grille’s signature martini made with Wheatley American Craft Vodka infused with fresh Dole pineapple. It was chilled, smooth, and served table‑side — a classic since 1991 and still excellent. My wife enjoyed a Dirty Goose Extra Filthy, also shaken and poured table‑side with Grey Goose and plenty of olive brine. For my second cocktail, I had the Blackberry Bourbon Sidecar made with Angel’s Envy, Cointreau, blackberries, lemon, and thyme — incredibly well balanced and flavorful. For appetizers, we shared the Pan‑Fried Calamari with Hot Cherry Peppers, their signature starter. It was perfectly fried, tender, and packed with a satisfying kick of heat. My wife ordered the Bone‑In Filet with Black Garlic and Wine Reduction, a special that evening. She had it cooked rare, and it arrived absolutely perfect — melt‑in‑your‑mouth tender and beautifully flavored. I ordered the Kona‑Crusted Dry Aged Bone‑In NY Strip with shallot butter. The steak was seasoned with their famous Kona coffee rub. It came out flawlessly medium‑rare, deeply flavorful, and among the best cuts of beef I’ve ever had. We shared a side of Lobster Mac 'N' Cheese, and it was outstanding — al dente pasta enveloped in a rich blend of cream cheese, mascarpone, Parmesan, and Havarti, finished with a white cheddar and Grana Padano crust. Truly decadent. Then came the birthday surprises: a Mini Flourless Chocolate Espresso Cake made with Belgian chocolate and Hawaiian espresso, and a Mini Capital Grille Cheesecake with a brûléed top and fresh seasonal berries. They even plated the cheesecake with “Happy Birthday” written in chocolate. Both desserts were phenomenal and a perfect finish to the evening. If I had one critique, it would be that service timing felt a bit delayed at moments — particularly toward the end when we were ready for the check. But despite that, our server was friendly and attentive overall, and the quality of the meal and the experience more than made up for the minor slowdown. All in all, this was one of the best dinners my wife and I have ever enjoyed. From the food, to the atmosphere, to the thoughtful birthday touches, The Capital Grille absolutely delivered. We can’t wait to go back!

Capital Grille is one of our favorite restaurants! This Valentine’s, our server Amity made it feel extra special. She was very attentive and kind. Can't recommend this place and Amity enough!
My husband made this reservation for us on 02/13 several weeks ago for Valentine’s Day and our anniversary. While I totally understand the business during the holiday, unfortunately our experience wasn’t worth the $300+ and our future nights out will be celebrated elsewhere. To start, we ate bread without bread plates on our napkins and had to ask for bread refills several times (twice to an SA & the server later brought it out). We heard the server next to us go over the entire menu with their table but we didn’t have the same experience. Our server went over the specials but as it was our first time in the dining area, would’ve appreciated a menu overview and recommendations. It felt like they wanted to take our order all at once rather than coursing it out and enjoying the night. When our steaks arrived, my husband didn’t have a fork and we both didn’t have steak knives. App dishes stacked on the table when our food came, not a completely big deal but hoped the 5 people passing to pour water would’ve grabbed them. The table next to us had a spring in their glass of wine. Made us cautious of checking our own glass. Pros- the server was nice. Checked on our food when it came out and after we had first bite. Dessert for anniversary was also excellent. Just for the price we’re paying, the added up small mishaps shouldn’t happen, don’t make it worth it and a desire to come back.
I came here for the first time during restaraunt week. My lady has been plenty, and consistently gets good service, good drinks, and good steaks. For me, the bread service was far from boring. The salad was salad.. the dressing didn't do anything to make is special. My salmon was cooked pretty close to perfectly.. nice crust, tender inside. There was also a really good glaze all over the plate. There was nothing boring on the plate. I was also very happy with the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach sides. Our desserts were decent (flourless chocolate espresso cake and creme brulee cheesecake), but nothing I'd be excited to order again. Service was excellent all-around, the vibe is grade A for date night, and they have complimentary valet parking. I'll definitely come back and dive into the regular menu some time.
The steak was great, the caviar dip was okay. I would get something else. We went to dinner with friends. They would not split the bill between 4 couples. This is supposed to be fine dining? When I served years ago at a much less expensive restaurant, I was able to do this. I understand it’s a little more work but, it should be feasible with upscale dining. Very disappointing
