Checked in around 8 pm. They were sold out of the room type I had booked. Upon request of a token of inconvenience, they comped me breakfast and gave me a $75 room credit which I appreciated. My experience here has been very mixed. The food at the bar was pricey, but my burger was good. The bartenders we're very attentive -- no complaints there. The bathroom/shower is where the deductions come from. The showe curtains were disgusting. Black stains on the front, mold on the inside. The soap dispenser was empty and they left an empty/used lotion in the room. When I called room service there was no apology and the lady was quite curt, asking "so what do you need tonight". For $300/night, I expect better.
Stayed here for one night, and it was a decent experience. In the past, a lot of reviewers have complained about the service, but all of the employees were friendly to me. I had zero issues with the staff. The room was nice and clean for the most part, and was also surprisingly spacious for such a tall and skinny hotel tower (LOL). My bed was quite comfortable as well, and I was able to get a decent night's sleep without a problem. The elevators are locked and require a room key. When you enter the elevator, you have to touch your key to the scanner before pressing your floor (this is nice because it helps keep unwanted visitors out). Also, getting a panoramic view is not guaranteed. I was placed on the 16th floor and ended up with a room facing two of the office towers, so I was not able to get any decent pictures of the surrounding landscape from my room window. My only complaint was that the trash can in my room was not empty. Housekeeping could have done a better job checking the entire room before locking the room up and leaving it for the next guest. Also, the main floor of the Renaissance Center is a bit of a labyrinth, and finding your way around can be a headache; it's like navigating your way through one of those zones in the Sonic the Hedgehog games. Other than that, it was an enjoyable little stay.

A huge thank you to Louise Burgan! She was incredibly kind, patient, and helpful throughout our check-in. She took the time to help us and made sure we got a wonderful room. Her warm attitude and excellent customer service made our stay even better. We truly appreciate everything she did. Highly recommend!
I would like to express my immense gratitude for the exceptional staff at the Detroit Marriot - Renaissance Center. Danise at the front desk during the night shift provided personable and prompt service. She made me feel very special and went above and beyond. She is truly a great asset to the team. The day shift manager, Mark, was able to listen to our needs and concerns. He provided my family and I an upgrade to the suite of our choice, which made our weekend the best we've had to date in the 10 years we have made our yearly MDW trip to Detroit. We look forward to staying at this hotel in the future and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality stay.
We stayed at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center during the Detroit Grand Prix weekend, and it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The views alone are worth the stay. Watching the Detroit River, Windsor skyline, and all the activity surrounding the Grand Prix from our room was incredible. The location couldn’t have been better—we were within walking distance of everything downtown had to offer, making race weekend easy and enjoyable. The staff was welcoming and attentive, the room was clean and comfortable, and the Concierge Level upgrade made our stay even more special. Every interaction we had was positive, and the hotel did a great job handling the excitement and crowds that come with a major event weekend.
