Took my car to @Akron Auto Clinic because it’s making a weird noise. They lifted it up, and when they put it back down, suddenly my whole strut was broken. My wheel was literally sideways, and they told me I couldn’t even drive my car home. Mind you… I DROVE it there. My strut was not completely snapped when I arrived. So I asked how much it would cost to fix, and this man tells me almost $900-$1,000. I said I couldn’t afford that right now, and he tells me there’s a financing program. I asked if it was credit-based, and he said yes. I told him, “If I had good enough credit for that, I’d probably already have a credit card to pay for it.” Then this 🥷🏾 asked me if I was gonna scrap my car. That part irritated me more than anything because why are we jumping from “you need repairs” to “should you junk your car?” after my car somehow comes down off your lift worse than it went up? So I got my car towed home, found the part myself for around $150, and found somebody else to fix it for $100 an hour. They told me it’s maybe a two-hour job MAX. So you mean to tell me I was about to pay $850 in labor??? Updated review because they called me asking what they could do to get me to take my review down. Here are the facts: I paid $170 after tax for the part and $150 in labor to get my car fixed elsewhere. Total: $320. Meanwhile, I was quoted OVER $900 here for the same repair. When I said I couldn’t afford it, instead of being given real options, the conversation immediately turned into financing and whether I wanted to scrap my car. That did not sit right with me at all. When someone comes in stressed about their vehicle and money, the last thing they need is to feel pushed toward giving up their car instead of being helped. Thankfully, I got a second opinion — because the repair ended up costing nowhere near what I was told here. People should absolutely shop around before agreeing to expensive repairs.
