I have been using Specialty heating and cooling since 2017 when I purchased my carrier mini split under an excellent rebate program augmented through Home Depot. It has been an excellent investment in heating and cooling my second story 784 ft.² condo, especially as the summers get hotter. All of the technicians have been very timely and professional in providing maintenance and repair service. They were creative with MacGyvering a problematic drainage situation and another year had to repair a coolant leak that was somewhat costly. This year, Jake D arrived on schedule and was very courteous and professional. He explained everything quite clearly and made sure I understood all of his instructions. I highly recommend this business.
Top-Notch Service from Start to Finish – Highly Recommend! After doing a ton of research and going through two full rounds of reviews with different contractors, I chose Specialty Heating & Cooling to replace my furnace, AC unit, and thermostat. While they weren’t the cheapest option, their pricing was fair for the high quality of equipment and service provided. The Sales Process My salesperson, Jason, was great. He wasn’t pushy at all, which I really appreciated. He was honest, highly knowledgeable, and took the time to provide detailed quotes for all the different options I was interested in so I could make an informed decision. Installation Day On the day of the installation, the crew showed up exactly on time. They managed to completely remove all of my old equipment and install the entire new system in just a single day. The Crew & Clean-Up Jun (the lead tech) and his assistant were outstanding. They were polite, professional, and took the time to walk me through the new system and thermostat once the job was wrapped up. To top it off, they left my garage absolutely spotless—you wouldn't even know they had been working there all day. If you are looking for a reliable, professional HVAC company that does premium work for a fair price, I would recommend Specialty Heating to anyone.

I am not sure why issues with home systems always seem to happen on weekends or long holidays—but that’s usually when something stops working. At the same time, we are all talking about rising costs and how we’re paying more than twice what we used to just a couple of years ago. Companies like Specialty Heating & Cooling are contributing to this problem with pricing practices that, in my view, take advantage of customers. Last week, I noticed an unusual noise coming from our furnace. I had a good idea of what it might be, as I dealt with the same issue when we lived in a different home. I called Specialty Heating & Cooling and scheduled an appointment. The technician arrived on time, and within five minutes the diagnostics confirmed exactly what I suspected. That’s when I was told there was a $189 diagnostic fee—something no one had mentioned when I scheduled the visit. I paid it, but I made it clear that this had not been disclosed. The technician said he would call after the Thanksgiving weekend with a repair estimate. On Monday, he contacted me and asked for my email. When I requested the total cost of the repair, the quote was $1,186.43. I asked for an explanation of how they justified charging nearly $1,200 for the same OEM part, made by FESCO, with one full year of warranty, that retails for about $142, installs with three screws, and takes less than 30 minutes to replace. Unfortunately, no clear explanation was provided. If their quote had been anywhere near reasonable—say, up to $500—I would have approved the repair immediately. However, at this price, I strongly suggest exploring alternatives before calling Specialty Heating & Cooling, unless you’re comfortable paying far more than what the job is worth.
Wow! We've worked with some very good companies, but Specialty Heating & Cooling is truly in a class of its own. Excellent communication from first contact through completion of our new AC installation -- and this was so impressive. We always knew who was coming out and when to expect them, with notifications arriving both by email and text, and polite requests to confirm. All the personnel at Specialty have been so helpful. Nicole in the office answered questions and took careful notes. Eric came out and listened to our concerns and answered a lot of picky detailed questions, which really helped us choose the appropriate system for our 19th-century house. He did a great job of explaining the challenges of installing AC in an older house. And after the installation, he came to check air flow in every room of the house, showed us how to optimize that and gave us tips and advice for using the system. As for the installation itself, we were very happy with both Bailey and Devin, the pair who carried it out. Bear Electric did great work to support the installation. And finally, some days after installation, Skylar came out to clean all the ducts, including our dryer duct! We really appreciated both the careful, detailed service and everyone's friendly, professional attitudes. It's clear that Specialty chooses their employees with care and it seems they respect them as well. We're very satisfied with the system and service we purchased from Specialty Heating & Cooling, and would recommend them enthusiastically to friends, family and anyone else looking for respectful, knowledgable and friendly HVAC service.
We’re glad we chose Specialty to replace our old, inefficient furnace with a Carrier dual-fuel (gas + heat pump). It works flawlessly to keep our home comfortable. Saved us money too, the gas rarely comes on (only in sub freezing storms). We count on them for annual maintenance to keep it that way. The past couple years, Veronica has been here spring and fall to check, clean and adjust. She’s now using the very latest wireless diagnostic sensors.
