My stay at The Tallison in Carmel was exceptional from start to finish. The entire staff was consistently friendly and accommodating — we had a long list of requests throughout our stay, and every single one was handled without hesitation. Two people deserve special recognition. Arnold at the front desk was fantastic — attentive, professional, and always ready to help with a genuine smile. And Jane, who took care of us at Vyne, the hotel’s restaurant, gave us some of the best service we’ve had anywhere — warm, attentive, and clearly passionate about hospitality. Since the hotel is only about a year old, everything still feels brand new — spotless, fresh, and beautifully maintained. The local art on the walls gives the property real character you don’t often find at chain hotels. Five stars without hesitation — thank you to the whole Tallison team, especially Jane and Arnold, for such a memorable stay!
I was looking forward to this stay, but there were a few issues that turned it into an average experience. The hotel does NOT abide by Marriott Bonvoy’s terms and conditions, which includes breakfast for two people in the restaurant for platinum members and above. Instead, the hotel will give you a $10 voucher per day (up to 2 people) which does not cover the cost of any of the breakfast items. This issue was resolved in my case, only after putting in a complaint to Marriott during my stay. The AGM was dismissive and said the good thing about Tribute properties is that they can come up with their own benefits… This is not accurate. Hotel staff told me that the breakfast benefit used to be $25 per person and has been decreased to $10. It is a new property so everything is pristine and very clean, but ask for a room that faces away from the highway due to noise. Also, on my first night, the body wash was empty, and the housekeeping did not speak a word of English when I asked them to replace it. The HVAC was blasting in our face while sleeping and there was no way to prevent it. Otherwise, all the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was delicious (I sorted out the issues by going to hotel management and Marriott). A few minor tweaks (particularly with management), and this hotel could be amazing.

While a nicely appointed hotel with a grand foyer and entrance and room with nice tile bathrooms, the rooms are very small, especially for the cost paid. The air conditioners, while working fantastically, blow directly on your head while you sleep requiring a balance between the ambient temperature and the blast of cold air on your head throughout the night. The lights are also motion sensored, and while very bright, they will surprise you in the middle of the night or in the morning. Surprisingly, the staff, while friendly, had a hard time making a dinner recommendation, which is surprising for an upscale hotel.
I had a wonderful first stay at The Tallison Hotel! Check-in was quick and seamless, and the gentleman who welcomed me was very friendly and took the time to walk me through the hotel amenities. The room was clean, modern, and well-appointed. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and there was plenty of space to spread out. I also appreciated the mini fridge, and as a Bonvoy member, the two complimentary bottles of water were a nice touch. A standout feature was the handheld steamer in the room; such a convenient amenity, especially for business travel. The shower had great water pressure and a good temperature range. My only minor complaint is that there wasn’t a rack or ledge in the shower to hold a bar of soap or razor. I dined at Vyne twice during my stay. Once for dinner (get the burger & fries!) and once for breakfast (I recommend the salmon lox), and both meals were excellent. The portions were generous, and the service from Brandy and Serena was warm and attentive. I will definitely plan to stay here again on my next business trip through Carmel!
We had an excellent stay at Tallison Hotel, a Marriott Tribute property. The hotel was very clean, modern, and well maintained, and the service truly stood out. Tony and Devin were especially friendly at check-in—they greeted us with a smile, engaged naturally, and worked seamlessly together to get us into a great room. Their positive energy set the tone for the entire stay. We’d definitely come back and would highly recommend it.
