What a hidden gem in downtown Pittsburgh! Meat & Potatoes is a stunning fine dining restaurant with a beautiful atmosphere and exceptional service. The food was absolutely 10/10 from start to finish. We ordered the Tomahawk steak, which was massive and easily enough to share between 3–4 people. The marble potatoes and carrots were the perfect accompaniments and complemented the steak beautifully. To drink, we enjoyed the Hibiscus Berry and Dreamlife mocktails, both of which were refreshing and thoughtfully crafted. One thing to note for visitors from out of state: there are a few additional fees beyond the listed menu prices and tax, so the final bill may be higher than expected. That said, the quality of the food, generous portions, and overall experience made it well worth it. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience in Pittsburgh, Meat & Potatoes is definitely worth a visit. Great ambiance, excellent food, and a truly impressive steak make this a spot we’ll be talking about long after our meal.
We came to Pittsburgh for a conference and found this place. So glad we did. The vibe was really cool and the food service were exactly what we were hoping for. The restaurant had a nice buzz to the room, but wasn’t so loud that you couldn’t hear each other talk. We tried the beef Wellington for two and it was delicious. Highly recommend. Our server was Charlotte and she gave us great service. Very friendly and prompt without hovering. I must see if you’re in Pittsburgh.

Started with the potato leek soup. It was rich and velvety and the bits of pork belly add texture and salty goodness. Entree was the steak frites. The cut was a hanger steak. Comes medium rare by default and there was certainly no argument from me, nor should there be one from you ;). There is just no other temp for steak to be at. Anyways. It comes served under a mountain of compound butter. Mmmm…butter. The rosemary frites were crunchy yet soft and mopped up the peppercorn sauce nicely. You also have the option of dunking them in ketchup or an aioli. Also, I LOVE garlic. So you can imagine my delight as there were whole cloves of garlic strewn around the entire dish. I felt seen. Washed it all down with a cold beer. Ahhhh. Cue the food coma.
Decadent Burger, Strong Cocktails, and Worth the Hype Came to Meat & Potatoes for dinner with business colleagues after a recommendation, and it absolutely delivered. We started with strong, well-made cocktails, then I ordered the Rossini Burger — a double patty topped with a generous slab of fried foie gras, red onion jam, and mustard. It was decadent, rich, and delicious in the best way. Highly recommend, but make a reservation. Even on a Tuesday around 6 PM, the dining room was fully booked and we ended up sitting at the bar. Worth it.
This steakhouse offers an outstanding balance of quality and price. The service is timely, professional and designed to make quests feel comfortable and enjoy their time. The steak and fries are excellent and the bone marrow- something not every restaurant dares to serve-is prepared here in the most delicious way. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.
