Recently stayed for one night to attend a concert. Location is good, states downtown but about a mile from heart of downtown. Few nearby food places that we could walk to. Nice, clean hotel. Room was fine with modern amenities & fixtures, nothing spectacular, room was clean. Staff was pretty helpful overall. Antonio was great, friendly, helpful, goes the extra mile, very engaging & personable, gave food suggestions & tips to navigate the city. The door openers were always nice & friendly, offered assistance. Entire valet staff awesome, especially Ms. Tonya Thomas - she runs a well-oiled machine, offered personal assistance when Uber & Lyft constantly canceled rides. Couldn't check out the rooftop bar due to a private event. Went to the lobby bar, Mark was not the friendliest & was very short with me, could have been due to the volume of guests at the bar, however he shouldn't work alone when its busy as he didnt seem to be able to handle the constant orders. Overall great place to stay, would recommend, hope to check out IO next time
I recently stayed at the Godfrey Hotel in Detroit and had mixed feelings about the experience. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the rooms are nicely designed. However, for a property charging approximately $300 per night, I expected a much higher level of quality control and attention to detail. Upon arrival, several electrical outlets in my room did not work, and multiple light fixtures were also nonfunctional. While these may seem like minor issues individually, they created the impression that the room was not being properly inspected between guests. More concerning was the cleanliness of the bathroom. Everything initially appeared clean, but when I lifted the toilet seat, there was visible fecal matter left behind from a previous guest. This was unacceptable and particularly disappointing for a hotel that markets itself as an upscale, curated Hilton property. Additionally, valet parking costs $35 per day, which further raises expectations for the overall guest experience. My stay was not terrible, but it was far from exceptional. The hotel has great potential, and the aesthetic is appealing, but the maintenance and housekeeping standards did not match the price point. I expected more from a Curio Collection by Hilton property and, unfortunately, that expectation was not met.

Nice clean room with huge TV, loads of friendly people to help with bags, open doors etc. slow check in but there seemed to be a computer issue. I don’t understand why there’s no parking lot. It’s a large 7 floor hotel and options are $35/night valet or find parking on the streets. Every street around is choked with parked cars. A huge downer for a nicer upscale hotel. Valet service tries hard to keep up but there are times when the street in front of the hotel is completely blocked with cars. Breakfast was nice but avoid the biscuits and gravy. Small portion of gravy (no sausage) poured over two whole (not split) food service biscuits. I couldn’t eat it. Service was friendly, coffee was good.
I stayed here for a business trip and while the location and downstairs restaurant was great, the service across the board left much to be desired. When I arrived my bathroom floor was dirty with hair and I had to call to have someone come clean. I had to write multiple notes to house keeping for more water bottles, toilet paper, refill on lotion (I left the empty bottle out and it was left there and not replaced). Towels at turnover were left in a pile on the dresser vs put in the bathroom. These are small details but they build up to make a hotel experience either great or below average.
I'm not sure why there are negative reviews about this property. The staff in every department we encountered we're friendly and helpful. The rooms were immaculate. The food at Hamilton's was divine and the bed was the comfiest I've slept in in a while. It's in the heart of Corktown so there's plenty of food options around, but the meal I had at Hamilton's was worth every penny!
