$1,500 estimate to replace a non-existent part … Gave an estimate of around $1,500 to replace a non-existent part. Didn't fix the problem at all. Unnecessary diagnosis fees. … A) Provided the shop with a clear description of the vehicle's issue (air coming into the fuel line on top of the fuel filter) in person and in writing. B) Was charged about $300 for a diagnosis fee for an unsolicited, unnecessary, and completely erroneous diagnosis. C) Given an estimate of about $1,500 to replace a non-existent part (fuel pump in the tank). Doubled down in the shop about the misdiagnosis. They backed down only when they couldn't show me where the part was in the vehicle. The Service Manual shows the fuel pump is on the engine block, and not in the tank. D) Issue (air leak into fuel line) remained after four visits to Southwest Auto. "Will go away" was their take. E) Contacted the shop via email and phone (including one of the owners) six times. The service manager "is no longer with the shop." Didn't offer to fix the original issue, but to bring the vehicle back to repeat the high-fee diagnosis and estimate process. … Dealership's estimate to replace the fuel filter is LESS than SWA's diagnosis charges. Mercedes-Benz: "For the replacement of the fuel filter, the cost would be $290.14. This total is including labor, parts, taxes and fees." … The staff at SWA is friendly, but they constantly mention possible catastrophic issues (bad injectors, bad high-pressure fuel pump, etc.) to prepare customers for more 'reasonable' but still high charges.

From the first call to checkout, they were professional, kind, thorough, trustworthy, fair, performed speedy work, efficient communicators, and really seemed to care about me. Being a woman of ignorance when it comes to cars made no difference to them because they made no judgments. All I knew for sure was that my 13 year-old convertible Benz needed some love and I hate going to the dealerships because I am just a number and they always take advantage of me so I learned years ago too distrust them. I actually had a great mechanic in Grapevine, but he died a few years ago so finding Southwest Auto is an answer to my prayers. Do not look anywhere else when it comes to servicing your European car. It seems like I have a brand new car. Yay! I even found out they are also proficient with Tesla’s. (P.S. I am deathly allergic to cats and they have one roaming around the office so I was nervous about that, but they keep their place very clean and it stayed out of my path. This is just an FYI.)
In the past I had taken my 2016 Volvo s60 to Park Place for service. I have had good (expensive) service there, but decided to look elsewhere since my car is no longer under an extended warranty. I went to their yelp page and looked at the negative reviews to find out where people in Dallas were taking their Volvo’s instead. There were several recommendations for Southwest Auto. I needed an oil change but also had coolant leaking. It was so easy to get an immediate appointment on their website. When I arrived the next day, Corey was there to greet me and set me up with a complimentary loaner for the day. He texted and emailed me very quickly with a detailed report on what my car needed. Once I agreed the work was done very quickly. The price was way less than the dealer and is guaranteed for 3 years. One thing the dealership always tried to scare/sell me with is the work wasn’t guaranteed if you go somewhere else. As a woman, it meant a lot to me that I felt no pressure or like I was being ripped off. It felt like a completely trustworthy experience. I will be taking my car here for the rest of its life.
My first time to us Southwest Auto. They could not have been better. Did the services I requested at a very fair price and quickly. I am now going to use them from now on. Thanks
Year one almost in the books with Southwest Auto, and I recommend them to anyone asking for car service. I came to Southwest as a disappointed customer after costly experiences with other dealerships and shops. They’ve consistently impressed me with quick diagnostics, clear communication, competitive pricing, reasonable timelines, and loaner cars. Southwest has earned my trust and ongoing business.
