I just finished a trip in which I stayed at three 5-star hotels back-to-back, including Four Seasons Houston, along with Auberge Bowie in Fort Worth and Ritz-Carlton in downtown Dallas. This experience was well below those other locations, but still very much in the 4.5-star category, as the level of service, decor, and amenities was still far superior to any 4-star hotel. The fitness center is quite extensive, which is a major positive, and the lounge in the lobby for drinks is quite good. Also, they upgraded me for a fee to a residence, so I was able to have a washer-dryer unit and microwave, which was great! That being said, here are the things that made this somewhat less than a 5-star experience for me: 1) I think the main issue is that the hotel is built very long ago, so there are infrastructure issues that make it hard to fully renovate. As such, the room are pretty dated, and they do not have large bath tubs for soaking. I looked at one of the suites on the hotel side, but this bath tub was also not very deep. 2) There is substantial noise from drag-racing and the House of Blues, going on at all hours of the night, even on weekdays. I had to use white noise on my phone and ear plugs to try to sleep, but this is a problem, as the hotel is not adequately sound-proofed, given its age. 3) The spa facility is pretty small with just a few lockers, one steam room, and one shower. No sauna, no indoor whirlpool, no plunge pool. I did get a massage at the spa, which was fantastic! There is a whirlpool outside, which was very strong jets, which also was great. The main issue is the actual spa experience with limited size and lack what was mentioned above. Overall, as stated, this is 4.5 rating for me, but the external noise is an issue that it is very difficult to solve. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, but these are structural issues with the building itself and the location. If I return to Houston, I would likely try a different 5-star property.

Four Seasons Houston is incredible. I've stayed at 17 Four Seasons in the US and a number of them internationally. What I have learned is they are not all equal. Some have incredible service, some are in amazing locations (Lanai being a favorite location) and while none of them have ever been "bad" there are locations that clearly stand out. What makes Houston stand out is the service. Wow! It's really something special here. Our trip started with the concierge team going way above and beyond for our trip. We are here for our daughters cheer competition. I let them know ahead of time that's why we were coming. Steven Kung on the concierge team asked me a number of questions and helped to organize a very memorable arrival. Upon arrival there was a red carpet with a dozen team members cheering my daughter on with cheer poms, and banners with her name. They went out of their way to sign the banners and since I requested the room be decorated the most thoughtful decorations I have ever seen. As an example a large wooden sign that said "Go Ellie" that the team had taken the time to write personal notes of encouragement on. My daughter was PUMPED upon arriving! It doesn't stop there. Every request is met with enthusiasm, support and outstanding service. The room service staff is so friendly and helpful as well. We are in the Ambassador suite and the room is very nice. Spotless, great views, good layout, and all the amenities you would want. Every team member I encountered has been great. This sort of experience doesn't happen randomly. It comes from an entire team that truly cares about their guests. It starts with management setting the stage and doing as they want their team to do leading by example. Four seasons corporate if you are reading this take note of how this hotel is being run. I became a Four seasons residential owner because I love the brand. I've seen it all both at Four Seasons and your competing brands (Auberge, Aman, Mandarin, etc) and Four Seasons Houston is one of the best examples of what the Four Seasons brand embodies and thrives to be. Four Seasons Houston is at the top of my list!
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel! The kids had a great time in the swimming pool — it was perfect since it was pretty hot outside. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. We ordered room service twice (dinner and breakfast), and everything was absolutely delicious. The only thing — the food by the pool was very spicy! I get that it’s Texas and things are supposed to be “hot”, but maybe still not the hot dogs for the kids, right? 😄
I travel frequently for work and have the good fortune of staying at The Four Seasons in Houston most times I visit Houston. This hotel is single handedly my favorite thing about visiting Houston and I don’t have a single negative thing to say about it. Lovely and tasteful rooms, kind and thoughtful hotel and restaurant staff. If I had to summarize the hotel in one word: Quality.
By far the best experience I’ve ever had staying at a hotel. Sometimes you pay that premium price at these hotels and never get what you expect but Wonjae exceeded those expectations by a mile. Anything I needed he made sure to make it happen. #1 Service in Houston in my opinion. Wonjae thank you for making my time in Houston amazing!
