Hotel was old but looked elegant. Once you really start looking, the age shows. It definitely needs some upgrades. The room was the worst part. Heavy draft through our windows. Base trim looked like it's been getting wet for quite some time and rotted out, pulling away from the wall. Carpet looks as old as the building. Towel holder was damaged, and just very lightly set back in place so when I went to dry my hands it fell apart and the towels dropped on the floor. Wife couldn't get the shower turned on. There was no end cap and the set screw was backed out. Handle came off. I was able to screw it back in and work it properly. Large chunks taken out of the old doors. Pieces of the wall crumbling down. Tables stained. Unfortunately there were also large cobwebs in the corner which are very accessible to get at. Our sink stopped draining for about 30 minutes on our last day. It eventually went down. Only plus side was we did not pay for it. Although with pricing at $160/night, I would have been a little salty if this is what we paid for. Location was great. Service was good. Just needs help.
I thought the Hilton Cincinnati Netherlands plaza hotel was fantastic. Not only was the Art Deco interior absolutely stunning, but the service I received was outstanding. I know that the standard check-in was at 4 PM, but after speaking to an incredibly kind and gracious young woman at the front desk, she was able to arrange an early check-in. This allowed me to catch a little nap and still make it to my destination on time. I had a great experience because of the service. My room was definitely in good shape—it was clean and the bed was super comfy. The bathroom was also clean. There were a couple of free waters and a fridge. It wasn't anything fancy, and the view wasn't great, but i didn’t care about view. Location was super important. I highly recommend staying here. Plus, it's within walking distance of everything and a lot of great neighborhoods. There’s really strong tasty coffee in the lobby really early in the morning, and definitely grab a drink in the bar during your day. It’s a really incredible space.

The only reason I am giving Service a 1 star is for one staff member named Dwayne who is also the head of the Kitchen. My husband surprised me with an incredible date night out. When we got up the next morning at 9:00am for breakfast it was closed despite what the signs stated throughout the hotel. Dwayne was standing there in the dinning area and as I mentioned this he started to walk away. My husband tried talking to him and he completely ignored him and continued to walk. This was incredibly rude for the inconvenience. Several guests were also turned away due to not being informed that breakfast was ending early this morning. He left his staff member to politely apologize to everyone else while he got to be rude and ignore the issue. However the rest of the staff was incredibly friendly nice and welcoming. The decor of the hotel and preservation of the 1930’s original design was beautiful. I especially enjoyed looking at the history of the hotel. **UPDATE** I got a nice generic response saying they are glad I enjoyed my stay. If they read my review they would see the horrible experience I had with their particular staff member. Disappointed again.
Beautiful hotel. Service was great and had no complaints except room service got our order wrong twice and we had to wait almost an hour between each delivery. Bathroom was a little small in the room but that makes sense since it's an old building. It was right downtown with a beautiful view of the river. Within walking distance of a lot of food, shops, and entertainment. Overall I really enjoyed my stay.
The hotel and lobby definitely feels like you stepped into a time machine. Done up with art deco, like the empire state building. I love how they try to preserve its historic charm! The location is excellent also, walkable to a lot of Cincy attractions. Where it lacks is in the rooms themselves, Old, banged up, needing some TLC. I've stayed in many Hiltons around the country and this one probably needs the most work. Found stained sheets, blankets, and mattresses that made my wife and I change rooms 3 times. The front desk was more than accommodating though. Not the worst hotel I've ever stayed in but would like to see some improvements before I stay here again.
