First time. I didn’t dine in, but the atmosphere was crowded, but in a very good way! It gives you that familiar, favorite hangout spot feel. The pizza and Limoncello wings were great! If ever I’m back in the city and my anxiety is not acting like a drama queen, I will dine in. Fun crowd!!!
What an unexpected gem! La Lanterna is one of those rare finds: understated on the outside, unforgettable inside. My husband and I agreed this was THE BEST Italian dining experience we have had in ages 🇮🇹. The Tagliatelle “Ohhh Passillo” was creamy, bright, and lemon-kissed perfection. The Lombardia pizza brought that perfect Italian balance of tomato, sausage, and olives. And the absolute showstopper = Bruschetta con Scampi e Pomodori ✨!! Every bite burst with garlic, lemon, and authentic Italian soul. Simply THE BEST EVER! La Lanterna is Detroit’s hidden trattoria treasure. Bravo! We will definitely be back.

I don’t know why this place doesn’t have a higher star rating! Clearly whoever left anything less than 5 ⭐️’s doesn’t know what true service and good food looks like. We’re foodies from Dallas… food capital of the world. I don’t claim to be a food critic but, considering where we live, we have a good sense of what’s good and what’s mediocre. It’s a small place but once you walk in, you know it’s going to be good! We enjoyed the Calamari Arrabbiata in a beautiful mildly spicy sauce and the Polpo alla Griglia( Octopus ) and I’ve never had anything like this one. The main dishes we had were Spaghetti con Frutti de Mare and OH! WOW!! It took everything in me not to lick the plate ( I had it twice). We had the Lasagna alla Bolognese and their Petto di Pollo alla Parmigiana 😘🤌🏽 … and yes, we had the pizzas which were delicious! I don’t know who the chefs were but they’re onto something special! Saving the best for last- Lily!!! Beautiful and courteous girl! Was on point with everything and we followed her recommendations and so glad we did. You can tell she has a beautiful soul!! Treated my boys with the same kindness and respect as she did my husband and I. She’s definitely the jewel of this place!
Firm believer in “give credit where credit is due” and La Lanterna is AMAZING from food, drinks everything delicious! But their staff is the BIG SUPER STAR in my eyes. We are not from Detroit and were visiting walking around we decided to stop by the establishment because it looked super inviting and their menu looked great. Well from the moment we set foot in there we were acknowledged and greeted even though it was a very busy night. We were seated and the gentleman who did so was very nice friendly .. the gentleman who took our order was super nice and very attentive they really made us feel at home and welcomed. Definitely a true Italian dining experience. It’s really hard for me to pick a favorite because the lemon cello wings were delicious and perfect! Calamari 10/10 perfectly made the Margareta fresh from a stone fire oven was PERFECTION and the drinks out of this world . It’s also important to mention they have the BEST CARROT cake I’ve ever had. Definitely will be returning to this restaurant because of menu but specially for the amazing service given to us by Robert and Yno. No wonder La Lanterna has “Best in Detroit” awards on their walls . Definitely did not disappoint and left a wonderful gastronomic experience worthy of my most memorable places I will forever remember.
I love the atmosphere at this place. It feels slightly upscale but not so much that you have to dress up. There’s a bar with a TV that can show live sports but it’s not wall to wall TVs. I had what could be described as a fettuccine Alfredo type of dish, but with a bit of lemony acidity to it. The meatball antipasti was great as well, and I loved the Corleone cocktail I ordered. Considering the price I think it’s a great value as well. You can get a pretty good meal for $25-35 bucks with tip, compared to a lot more expensive places not far away.
