I had an amazing experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was attentive and friendly, and the food was absolutely outstanding. My steak was cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The staff made us feel welcome and well taken care of throughout our visit. This is hands down one of the best dining experiences I’ve had, and I can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a top-quality meal and great service!
Dining at Steak House Marcel in Atlanta was an amazing experience from start to finish. The atmosphere is very romantic — dim lighting, beautiful photos on the walls, and a warm, elegant vibe that makes it perfect for a special night out. Our waiter was incredibly attentive and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain the different types of steak and how they’re preserved, which made the experience even more enjoyable. We shared the Côte de Boeuf dry-aged ribeye, and it was absolutely delicious, tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The house mashed potatoes were rich and cheesy and paired so well with the steak. Our starter was great too, and we finished with the chocolate layer cake, which was rich and indulgent.

I recently celebrated my 50th birthday dinner at Marcel with my family, a party of 11. While the evening itself was special, my experience was a bit mixed overall. When planning the reservation, communication was very challenging. It was nearly impossible to reach the coordinator, Teresa Brown. I called multiple times during business hours and left several voicemails that went unanswered. She only responded after I resorted to sending an email, which felt unprofessional and unnecessarily frustrating for such an upscale restaurant! The ambiance and décor were elegant and romantic, with a moody, vintage steakhouse vibe that perfectly sets the tone for a celebratory evening. The waitstaff, however, was absolutely top-notch! They knew my name, made me feel genuinely special, and were patient, attentive, and personable throughout the night. Unfortunately, the food did not fully live up to the reputation. My Filet Madame wasn’t as tender as I had hoped, and the pommes purée (mashed potatoes) were rather bland. The restaurant did provide a complimentary shrimp cocktail, which was a nice gesture and appreciated. Overall, while the service and atmosphere were wonderful, the communication and food quality left room for improvement, especially for such a highly rated, fine dining steakhouse.
Our neighbors and friends have been recommending Marcel for years, so we finally decided to try it for a date night last month (11/15). Unfortunately, the experience was very underwhelming. We arrived for our 5:00 PM reservation and were seated promptly, which we appreciated. However, the seating was extremely tight, and we were placed next to a young couple who talked loudly and drank throughout the evening. The overall atmosphere felt loud, crowded, and surprisingly casual—not intimate or refined, which was disappointing given Marcel’s reputation and price point. As for the food, the veal parmesan was dry. When I mentioned this to our server, he noted that extra sauce could have been provided—which, frankly, should have been done automatically. Extra sauce was included in our to-go bag, and when we tried the dish again at home, it didn’t change our opinion. It was average at best and lacked the quality we expected. The steak was good, but not exceptional. The Salad Marcel was a miss for me—far too much celery, to the point that it overwhelmed the dish entirely. The sides were also very average. On a positive note, the desserts and cocktails were enjoyable. Overall, we’ve had far better dining experiences elsewhere. For the price, we expected something memorable, especially for a date night. We value our time and experiences together, and this visit simply fell flat.
From start to finish, this steakhouse absolutely delivered. I ordered the bone-in filet, and it was everything you hope for and more, perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and packed with rich, beefy flavor. The bone added that extra depth that made each bite even better, and the seasoning was spot-on without overpowering the quality of the cut. Truly a standout steak. To finish, I couldn’t pass up the chocolate cake, and I’m glad I didn’t. Decadent, moist, and deeply chocolatey, it was the perfect ending to an already memorable meal, indulgent without being overly sweet. Between the quality of the food and the execution, this place clearly knows what it’s doing. If you’re a steak lover, the bone-in filet is a must, and save room for dessert, you won’t regret it. I’ll definitely be back. 🥩🍰🍷
