Visited Sienna Mercato recently and had a really enjoyable experience. The restaurant’s three-floor setup gives it a unique atmosphere, even though we ended up dining on the ground floor since the rooftop was reserved for a private party and the second floor wasn’t taking walk-ins at the time. Even with the busy atmosphere, service was fast, attentive, and friendly throughout the meal. We started with several appetizers including the mozzarella sticks, bruschetta, and the crack fries, which were outstanding. The crack fries came loaded with a ranch and buffalo sauce combination that was incredibly flavorful and definitely lived up to the name. For the main course, we enjoyed a variety of meatballs and pasta dishes, and everything was excellent. Both the marinara and meat sauces tasted fresh, rich, and homemade with great flavor throughout. They also had a very solid draft beer selection, which paired perfectly with the meal. Overall, Sienna Mercato delivered a fun atmosphere, great Italian comfort food, and excellent service. Definitely a spot worth visiting when in downtown Pittsburgh.
After a 20 minute wait we were seated. The 2nd floor being unavailable we settled for the Emporio, with its limited menu. The Italian Wedding soup was good, the salad and chicken parm sandwich were okay if unremarkable. The fries... Glistening with grease. How much effort does it take to pull the basket out and drain it promptly? (UPDATE: I'm told that just a Pittsburgh practice. More's the pity!) The cocktail (from the menu) never arrived. After the meal we were told the bartender just didn't have the ingredients. I hope the 2nd floor is truly more evolved. Emporia has all the ambiance of a bus station.

Spectacular 2nd floor dining establishment featuring wood-fire oven pizzas. Soppressata hot honey pizza a true standout - perfect moistness with tomato sauce, sweet savory with the cured ham and honey. Highly recommend. Short rib pizza also great, a bit on the well-done side. Entree of brisket on mashed potato and asparagus fabulous. Ever so tender asparagus, pull-apart beef, non-gummy mashed potato. Would also recommend arancini appetizer for the delicious risotto filling. Skews sweet so perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth (raises hand).
This is a pretty busy place at least in the weekends. We are a group there we wanted to sit on the rooftop, but they don’t have food menu on the rooftop. It’s mostly for drinks so we went downstairs to have the dinner menu was decent. The food wasn’t OK. Prices are not bad. Customer service was pretty good. The service was a bit slow. Did you have a bar for drinks as well I think in summer it would be great with the roof top open, but I’m sure it’s probably crowded.
Food was absolutely fantastic. Things I’ve never seen before on the menu. Made me go out of my comfort zone with a build your own meatball bowl. The crack sauce (buffalo and ranch) pairs extremely well with the Mac and cheese. Price was typical city pricing. Can’t complain too much. Only negatives were the server took a bit to get back to us for refills, but it was also a busy day with the St Patrick days parade. The music was also a bit too loud. All in all will be back again.
