Schenley Park

Beautiful Park right across from the University. We came here for the conservatory but ended up wandering around the park afterwards. Great views of the University of Pitt and Carnegie Mellon. Tons of shade tree and bright green grass. We were here on a Friday evening and it wasn't that busy. There were several couples on blankets in grass enjoying themselves. Paid parking at the parking machines. I recommend.

I visited Schenley Park on a fairly calm afternoon, and it felt like a good break from the busier parts of Pittsburgh. The park is quite large, so even when there are people around, it doesn’t feel crowded in most areas. I walked a few of the trails and also spent some time just sitting on a bench near the open grassy spaces. The scenery is simple but pleasant—trees, rolling paths, and occasional views of the nearby city buildings peeking through. It’s not overly “touristy,” which I actually liked. Getting around inside the park was easy enough, though some paths are a bit hilly, so it can feel like a workout depending on where you go. Parking can also take a bit of patience during peak times. Overall, it’s a nice place for walking, jogging, or just sitting quietly for a while. It doesn’t feel overly maintained in a polished way, but that’s part of its charm. I’d go back if I needed a quiet outdoor space in the area.
