We recently stayed at Hotel Riu Plaza Chicago and had a wonderful experience. The location is absolutely perfect for enjoying downtown Chicago and the Magnificent Mile shopping district. It is just a half block from Michigan Avenue, about three blocks from the Riverwalk, and only a few blocks from Lake Michigan, making it an ideal spot for seeing all that Chicago has to offer. The hotel itself is beautiful, clean, and very well maintained. The lobby is bright and impressive, with a very nice lobby bar. Our room was a bit small, but it was extremely well appointed and very comfortable. The entire hotel felt exceptionally clean throughout our stay. The rooftop bar is a must-see and offers a great atmosphere, especially in the evening. It does get very popular, so reservations are highly recommended. One of the best parts of the stay was the all-inclusive breakfast. The buffet was incredible and reminded us of what you might find at a high-quality Mexican all-inclusive resort, with a wide variety of options and attentive staff. Overall, Hotel Riu Plaza Chicago felt more like a resort experience than just a downtown hotel. We highly recommend it and would definitely stay here again.
Hotel RIU Plaza in Chicago is a quite new Hotel. The staff was very helpful and cordial. The Hotel offers a Huge breakfast buffet included with my stay at the hotel and the offerings were great. The rooms were spotless and we had a great view from the 26th floor. The 27th floor has magnificent views from the rooftop bar. Prices for drinks is a little high but reasonably priced for the area. We had a great stay and we will definitely return to RIU Palace Chicago. I highly recommend this property.

The hotel room cleanliness is of a very high standard. The complementary breakfast is extraordinary with a different majority of food and with a good procedure to take care of guests. The rooftop bar was sophisticated and attracts high class clientele. The room space is big enough to feel comfortable. There is individual Wi-Fi for each room that allows you to connect your phone to the TV. And the location downtown was excellent.
We stayed for four nights at the Riu. Location-wise it was excellent. The room was very good too, comfortable and well equipped with daily housekeeping. Breakfast was pretty nice too, great selection of food and the menu varies slightly from day to day. The only reason I’m taking a star off is the ridiculous facilities fee. You pay $28 a night for access to the rooftop (just the elevator trip up), WiFi (in 2026) and access to the gym. And the ability to print something at the reception. So we paid $112 for WiFi, a photo of the skyline from the rooftop and a printed voucher at check out.
Beautiful hotel in the heart of the city. The rooms were ckean, bright, and quiet. No parking so had to park in local parking garage. Loooong walk to Navy Pier, then to Grant Park and back. The good to that was we got to see some of the city. Nice rooftop views but drinks were expensive: $20 mixed drink and $10 beer. The included breakfast was excellent. Staff throughout the hotel was friendly and helpful.
