Great place to stay while in Portland. The free parking was great. We enjoyed the soaking pool as well. We stayed during a heatwave and the little AC unit really kept the room cool. We had the room service breakfast one day which was good if a little cumbersome. Went and sat in the Courtyard restaurant the next morning, waited ten minutes for a server and ended up leaving to go elsewhere. Hotel is neat if a little eerie at night.
Beautiful converted elementary school with fabulous one of a kind rooms, each with a literary theme. The art work and décor is a feast for the eyes/ from tile work to murals, theme paintings in each room, whimsical hallway lamps, beautifully eclectic interiors in the several eating establishments on site. The staff were top notch and accommodating— it was a fun weekend. We really enjoyed the soaking pool early in the morning with coffee.

We made reservations to soak in the soaking pool for an hour. $10 per person seems like a great price to me to enjoy this relaxing feature without renting a room. You are also allowed to have drinks in plastic cups which I was pleasantly surprised about.
Most comfortable bed of our 9 days in PNW!! Room was VERY quiet. Hospitality great. Staff so kind. And coffee 🥰😍!!! Love the neighborhood aspect of walking! Everything about this place is 100% outstanding!! Thank you for all!!!!
Best room I've had at a McMenamin's hotel (this was our 4th -- others are Grand Lodge, Crystal Hotel, and Edgefield). Boiler room bar very cool. Soaking pool nice, except bubbles coming out of seats (parallel to back) instead of behind (perpendicular to back) is weird. Really liked being in the English Wing; nice and quiet. Artwork is awesome. Good food and service as always. Location of hotel itself is a little annoying -- surrounding streets are narrow with both sides parked up; lots of hard-to-see pedestrians crossing streets. Clearly not a feature of the hotel itself, but Google asked me to assign a star rating for location, so there ya go.
