I've given this contractor plenty of moments to "do the right thing" in his handling of our project, before and after completion. We contracted this business to build a 2 story deck on our house and we asked Mike to estimate in adding a structure below. Once NPC's costs and our cement contractors estimate came in for this work, we saw it was more than we could stretch for and asked Mike to revert back to the original scope. Then we got the email response attached here. Definition of an estimate please...anyone? We proceeded with the work because we wanted it done and hoped the 5 star rating was our benefit in the long run. This email from him was before physical products were ordered and contract had been provided. Who does that, a business owner at that? They could have walked away too right? Anyway, we chose pressure treated pine knowing it would shrink. duh. We had several 16' boards side by side that were already more dry. I asked him why they were more golden in color and his response was that he was looking around at local lumber yards to swap these out to no success. His email said they bent over backwards for us...isn't it your job to provide a quality product to your customers? So he assured us the wet boards would dry up evenly with these already dry ones. Well if you look at this photo you can see those gaps actually are bigger than the rest of the boards. We asked simply for him to make the 2 min drive over to see if there was anything he could do to lessen the gap issue (say loosen a couple boards and shift them slightly?) and to this day he loves to remind us that none of our issues are his responsibility because of the natural curing of pressure treated pine. And we chose pressure treated pine not the other options so why are we even throwing that into the conversation here? His warranty provides no accountability for the wood product but yet he knew there were issues hence him trying to swap boards out. And zero accountability for craftsmanship but look at this masterpiece (different colored screws, boards not even all cut to length evenly, my fave is the transition board one side has a whole 1.5" or more below to screw the deck boards into and the other side has 3/4" if that, where they toe-screwed the boards down - lack of execution but we didn't say anything. Probably a shrinking issue here too... Mike is a character from our experience. Review the emails sent to us as a customer reaching out to a contractor regarding their product. Remind you this is all out there now because a business owner didn't want to simply respond with "Can I come over and see what the issue is and see if there is anything we could do?" Details matter to some but customer service goes a long way when details may have been missed. Not seeking perfection, accountability maybe. If he treated us this way he has certainly done it before so please come forward.

We are absolutely thrilled with our new deck, thanks to Northern Premier Contracting! While we were excited to replace our old deck, we were dreading the process of finding a contractor—our last experience had been pretty torturous. But Mike and his partner Jake completely turned that around for us. From the start, Mike was responsive, patient, and incredibly helpful, answering all of our questions and guiding us through the process. Their craftsmanship is top-notch—the finished deck is not only exactly what we hoped for, it’s even better. You can tell they take real pride in their work. On top of that, Mike and Jake are just genuinely good guys. They were a pleasure to have around, and they made the whole experience smooth and stress-free. We truly can’t recommend them enough! If you’re considering a deck project, don’t hesitate—these are the people you want.
We couldn’t be happier with the work that was done on our home! We hired them to build our new front porch and repair extensive water damage that required rebuilding part of the exterior wall of our house. From start to finish, they were professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly easy to work with. They showed up early every morning, worked hard all day, and took pride in the quality of their work. It was obvious that they cared about doing the job right, not just getting it done. They kept us informed throughout the project, answered all of our questions, and made the entire process much less stressful than we expected. The finished porch is beautiful, and the repairs to our home were completed with great attention to detail. We have complete confidence in the quality of their craftsmanship and wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again for future projects. If you’re looking for a contractor who is dependable, hardworking, honest, and delivers excellent results, I highly recommend them. Thank you for the amazing work on our home!
Mike and Jake did a phenomenal job on our new deck build! We live in a difficult municipality, yet Mike had a good rapport with them throughout the project. Mike and Jake worked very well together, which made the job go smoothly and be completed in the expected time frame given. They did quality work and did not cut any corners. Mike communicated throughout the project, which gave peace of mind and was much appreciated. He even worked with us to make a few unusual adjustments to suit our small dogs. All of our neighbors are giving compliments on how great the deck looks and how solidly built it is. We are so glad we found KS Contracting and highly recommend their work!
These guys did an amazing job updating our old bathroom. Michael had a vision to reconfigure an awkward, outdated space. They showed up every time, on time and completed the work better than we imagined. He checked in after completion and made sure we were happy with the outcome. Highly recommend Northern Premier Contracting.
