I called to ask about getting a bid on a remodel project. It was a very unprofessional and strange call; frankly I’m shocked by the positive reviews. The person I talked to assumed I’m a man—I’m a woman. That was really strange and was the first uncomfortable situation. I explained I was needing a bid for a lawsuit against another contractor, plus a bid to redo the work plus additional work on my house. I’ve already received bids from other contractors without any issues or hesitations. This person went on a rambling tirade about why they can’t do it. I will assume the lawsuit aspect might have scared them but they could have been professional and simply stated that’s not a job they want to be involved with. I actually had to cut him off and say, “Okay I got it, you don't have to keep going on. You don’t want my business thanks for your time goodbye.” Very unprofessional and based upon the terrible communication I wouldn’t want to work with them anyway. They shouldn’t have that person answering phone calls… Updated review 3/9/26 Shawn, the person I talked to previously, called and apologized. I commend him for reaching out and doing that. That was very nice and professional of him to own up to his mistake. He also offered to "make it up to me.” Perhaps I misunderstood him, because he said he would do whatever I needed and I thought that included a report on the lawsuit aspect of my house, and estimates for the entire house. I never read his reply to my review until now which states vehemently that he doesn't do reports for lawsuits. Getting estimates is a time consuming process and if I'm getting one I also want a separate report on the work that needs to be redone. And I wanted estimates for everything else that needs remodeling. I got an estimate for two rooms but not the entire house so that was disappointing. Honestly this interaction made me a little upset because this was the only estimation process that made me feel like I'm an idiot. The previous contractors i met with understood my problems and didn't minimize the situation. He kept emphasizing that the only way to avoid future issues on a remodel is by hiring an architect, interior designer and decorator. I’ve never done that in the past and had no problems with my renovations. Some of the questions he asked I felt were a way to dismiss my project. It was painfully obvious the last place he wanted to be was at my house. He was the only contractor that didn't look at the rest of my house and give me an estimate for the entire remodel. That would have been super helpful. I don’t understand why he reached out to apologize and said he wanted to make it up to me because this didn’t help me at all. Like my lawyer says time is money… I don't know what else to say except my experience wasn’t that positive. It was nice that he apologized but we should have parted ways after that. I do wish him and his company the best of luck.

Amazing! From start to finish, it was a pleasure to work with Shawn and his company. He helped guide me through my first experience with remodeling my hall and master bathrooms. Jeremy and Darwin were also great to work with. They showed up on time and were respectful and efficient. I really can't express how overjoyed I am with the outcome of my bathrooms. I smile every time I walk in them. If you are looking for quality work, look no further than A-Z! Really so good, I'm hoping they will do my kitchen next! Update -- I so enjoyed my experience with this company, I had them come back to remodel my kitchen, put in flooring and update fireplace. I received the same, above and beyond, service! Thank you, Shawn and Jeremy and Kyrone! What a pleasure it was to work with you.
I had to have my house repiped as I had a leak in my PVC pipes(second leak) and it did some major damage in my bathroom. The plumber had to remove several areas of drywall in order to do the repiping and A-Z Construction has repaired all the drywall to its original state except for the paint which they will do when they finish my bathroom. I would recommend A-Z Construction to anyone because that do excellent work, they are prompt and very professional.
Shawn did a full remodel of our kitchen and bathroom for us. Things I loved: 1.) Shawn stayed more or less on budget. The final cost for the kitchen was within a few hundred dollars of the quoted price. The bathroom I think came slightly under budget. 2.) Shawn stayed almost on schedule. I believe the kitchen was finished one week after the initial projected finish date, and the bathroom was finished right on time. In my opinion, given all the things that can go wrong in a construction project, this was excellent. 3.) Shawn used a website on which we could access information about schedule and costs. It was easy to see the estimate, any change orders, the projected schedule, and so on. His team provided daily summary of the work completed. 4.) Shawn's team, Kyrone and Jeremy, were excellent. When you have a major remodel done, you have people in your house day after day for weeks. In addition to being skilled, Kyrone and Jeremy were friendly and polite and very respectful of our home. Having such nice people working on the project made it a lot more pleasant for us. My husband and I work from home and are home all day long, so this was especially important to us. 5.) Shawn was very responsive to concerns and comments from us. Whenever we brought something to his attention, he went above and beyond to resolve it to our satisfaction. 6.) Kyrone and Jeremy kept a consistently clean and neat work area every day. What I liked less: 1.) The design costs were more than 2x what Shawn estimated they would be. They were a relatively small fraction of the total cost, but I still would have appreciated a more accurate estimate. 2.) When we first approached Shawn for a quote, he gave us a guesstimate of what the project would cost. Our project ended up being at the very high end of his range. He provided a detailed quote before work started that turned out to be highly accurate (see above) but I was a bit surprised by the quote being at the very high end of his initial range. All in all, if you want a professional remodel done with attention to quality and detail and on-time and on budget, I recommend Shawn and A-Z. I interviewed something like ten potential contractors before deciding to proceed with A-Z and do not regret my choice. Photos show before and after.
Amazing quality of craftsmanship. We had APL do millwork (wall panels, partition wall, cabinetry) for our restaurant and the attention to detail was incredible. They also explain the process very well and make sure that the finished product is even better than you would expect. Not a single detail was missed, our restaurant looks great, and most importantly they are super easy to work with, clean, and always deliver on time. Can’t recommend them enough!
