This was my first visit to Tyler Automotive and it was outstanding! From scheduling my repair online via their website, to the repairs being completed in less than a half day! The inspection of my 2021 Kia Soul LX was comprehensive and the repairs done make my car ride like new again! I was also provied with a detailed inspection report and call prior to repairs and and an updated report when I picked up the car (sent to my email per my request). Staff is personable, friendly and knowledgeable. I have found a new auto mechanic in Tyler Automotive! Outstanding!
Recently, I experienced a challenging time with an older vehicle. It’s get-up-and-go had got-up-and-went one hot afternoon. Acceleration issues left me pulled over in a parking lot near home and very near Tyler’s Automotive. We had used Tyler’s the year before to troubleshoot an AC issue and they replaced our compressor and I remembered the great service. So I called Tyler’s for this new issue and asked about needing it towed over to them. Sawyer took my call and stated he’d be happy to walk over and check the driving capabilities of the car himself. If it needed a tow, he’d get that done with my permission. But Sawyer and a technician managed to get the car driven to their shop and saved me the tow cost. They diagnosed the car the very next day, and put it in the earliest repair time slot for the following Monday which I really appreciate. Needed repairs were about what we expected and at a very fair price point. Sawyer, Becky, and Tom talked me through the must have’s and the not so necessary updates. Tyler’s Automotive continually offered me knowledgeable service, sound advise, great communication updates, and all in a very friendly manner while managing many other customers. The entire experience put my mind at ease and left me confident with the needed updates and repairs to keep my 2010 running smoothly and safely. Sawyer helped me avoid the cost of a tow because of his can-do attitude and consideration on that particularly hot day when my car decided to push the pause button. I would recommend my neighborhood Tyler’s automotive to anyone in that area if you value quality automotive service at a fair price from great people.

I started going to Tyler Automotive because they were the highest reviewed for auto repair within walking distance of my house. I eventually moved and now pass six auto repair centers on the way to Tyler. They are worth it. The expertise is deep and operations are smooth. They give the info I need to keep my elderly car going without being overwhelming or wasteful. I appreciate their use of technology for repair tracking/planning, as well.
It’s incredibly disappointing that this place sucks because I live just two blocks away, but their service and competence are completely nonexistent. Awhile back, my car wouldn't start, so I paid to have my car towed here, only to show up the next day to find out absolutely nothing had been done and that they were not going to do any repairs on it. I was like, "But you're an automotive mechanic shop? Right?." They told me the repair was "above their pay grade," yet they still had the nerve to slap me with a $35 fee just for a battery charge! To make matters worse, while I was waiting, I overheard them trying to rip someone else off on the phone, quoting a ridiculously high price for a basic alternator replacement. Because they refused to do their jobs, I had to pay out of pocket for a *second* tow to take my car down to **Complete Auto Electric ** (near 38th and Illinois Street)--A mechanic shop that knows what they are doing. They immediately diagnosed it as a fuel injector issue and fixed it with zero hassle. I honestly cannot believe Tyler Automotive has expanded their shop and that people actually trust them with their vehicles. Save yourself the money, the extra tow fee, and the massive headache—go somewhere else.
A mechanic with true integrity. Our whole family has gotten car repairs with Tyler for about a decade and they have always given honest assessments and fair prices. They even have a tow service for existing customers that saved us when my car broke down on the road once. Highly recommend.
