Scioto Audubon Metro Park is a striking model of urban renewal, transforming a vast blighted industrial brownfield and former rail yard into a thriving green space. Opened in 2009, this 120-acre sanctuary along the Scioto River is the result of ambitious remediation efforts to bring nature back to downtown Columbus. The scenery is a powerful juxtaposition. Against the backdrop of the city skyline, the park features seven restored wetlands, abundant with migratory birds, contrasting sharply with the urban adventure amenities like one of the nation’s tallest free outdoor climbing walls. Visitors enjoy vast open fields, an obstacle course, and the unique Grange Insurance Audubon Center. This park fosters a deep sense of environmental hope. It is a triumphant monument to reclamation, demonstrating nature’s resilience when given a chance. Standing amidst the tranquility, yet feeling the pulse of the city nearby, one is inspired by the bold vision that transformed industrial decay into a vital, life-affirming public space for wildlife and the human spirit alike.
A great place to walk with your dog. Really like the multi-purpose trail along side the river, but also appreciate the downtown skyline view.

Scioto Park is a serene oasis, perfect for a leisurely walk, run, or relaxing in nature. The fresh air and gentle breeze make it a lovely spot to unwind. While the riverside area can be affected by pollen, it's still a great place for birdwatching, with opportunities to spot some rare species. Overall, it's a wonderful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
There are some super cool features to this park (climbing wall! cool playground!). But I think overall it was overhyped. There’s not really a view of the river from the park. I also heard it was a good place to watch sunset, but the view from other parks north on the river (like around Cosi) are much better in my opinion. Still, it had a very metro-park vibe in that you really are surrounded by some green nature but also can see some of the city.
Nice park with the partially climbable water tower, outdoor rock climbing (shorter and taller - bring own harness), playground and more with lots of parking and views of the large bridge.
