Our experience at The Apparatus Room was exceptional from beginning to end. Selma was an outstanding waitress—attentive, upbeat, and always seemed to appear at just the right moment. She struck the perfect balance of making sure we had everything we needed without ever making us feel rushed, and her positive energy made our evening even more enjoyable. A special shout out to Kayla for crafting some incredible cocktails. Every drink was perfectly balanced, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. The food was just as impressive. The pork chop entrée was cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and packed with incredible flavor. The Orecchiette pasta dish was equally outstanding, with rich, well-balanced flavors that made every bite memorable. It's clear the kitchen takes great pride in every dish they serve. The Apparatus Room delivered an exceptional dining experience with outstanding service, amazing cocktails, and phenomenal food. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a top-notch meal in Detroit!
We were excited to try the apparatus room but unfortunately don’t think we will be back. The positives: the folks at the host stand were warm and friendly, as well as the staff that were refilling our waters/clearing plates. The apps were good, we enjoyed the pork belly and bread. The atmosphere was cool and swanky. The negatives: everything took forever to arrive. Not sure where the back up was but it took a really long time to get even our drinks. For $18 the cocktails were just okay. Presentation was nice but that was about it. The main courses fell flat. Taste wise edible but was disappointed. Again for ~$28 per pasta we expected more. I did unfortunately get sick when I got home (I think it may have been from the tomato and shrimp risotto as my partner didn’t have any and was totally fine). I don’t like leaving negative reviews but I do feel like for the standard they are trying to have there can be many improvements.

The Apparatus Room is one of my go-to spots in Detroit, especially for professional dinners and special occasions. The atmosphere is unmatched warm, inviting, and sophisticated without feeling stuffy. The historic architecture paired with the modern design creates the perfect ambiance for a great evening. The cocktails were exceptional and beautifully crafted. I ordered the steak, which was cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. To finish, I had the passion fruit dessert, and it was absolutely delicious light, refreshing, and the perfect balance of sweet and tart. What keeps me coming back is the consistency. The service is always attentive, the food is outstanding, and the atmosphere makes you want to stay for just one more drink. If you’re looking for a restaurant that truly captures the best of Detroit’s dining scene, The Apparatus Room never disappoints.
Shawn made our experience at The Apparatus Room exceed our expectations. He was quite personable and very knowledgeable about the menu. We truly enjoyed the recommendations from the menu. Shawn also paid careful attention to our requests as we sought his suggestion for a cocktail to accompany our meals. He ended up crafting a custom made drink for us and it was superb. It is obvious that Shawn is a true mixologist who enjoys what he does. The presentation was impressive and the taste was...are there any words? It was absolutely delicious 😋 😍 Thank you, Shawn for making The Apparatus Room one of the highlights of our visit to Detroit!
I held my elopement dinner in the private dining room with 26 guests. First, Evelyn (event coordinator) was amazing from the start. Her communication was unlike any restaurant in the area that I contacted for my day, made the Apparatus Room an easy choice from the beginning. Custom menus were included, which added a beautiful touch. We chose family style dining which included salad, two entrees, and dessert. The Caesar salad was unreal - easily best Caesar I have ever had. Guests couldn’t stop raving about it. Entrees were very flavorful, chicken and steak. Dessert was a seasonal dessert which was a chocolate cake with strawberry on top - very moist and rich. Our servers were very attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend anyone to host a private dinner here.
