We visited L'Albatros during the fall. We had a reservation for the patio, and it was the perfect decision—the restaurant has a stunning outdoor patio that feels like a hidden garden escape in the middle of the city. The menu offers a wonderful selection of French classics, but the standout for me was the almond-crusted trout. The service was also great; our server was attentive and professional. As a helpful tip for those driving: there is a very convenient paid public parking lot right in front of the building. It made getting to our reservation stress-free. Overall, between the food, service, ease of access, and the beautiful patio, it was worth the visit.
This was my second time here, and I have to say, L’albatros is beyond delightful! The entire staff is super friendly and attentive and the food is amazing. We had a long list of delicious dishes - oysters, escargot and the artichoke for appetizers - the radicchio arugula salad (beyond amazing) and watercress caesar - vegetarian cassoulet and steak and frites - and finished the evening off with the pavlova. Truly, every dish was thoughtful and delicuous, as were all the cocktails and wine. I would highly recommend visiting this cozy spot when in Cleveland.

If you want to know if a restaurant has a soul, visit on a Sunday night when the Cleveland wind is trying to pick a fight with your coat. That’s when L'Albatros doesn’t just feed you; it rescues you. Walking into this converted carriage house feels less like entering a restaurant and more like stumbling into a very wealthy, very French friend’s country home. The place is a delightful maze of small, quaint little rooms—nooks and crannies where the lighting is low, the chatter is happy, and the outside world ceases to exist. It’s cozy in the way a cashmere sweater is cozy: expensive, classic, and exactly what you need. We arrived chilled to the bone, but the warmth inside was immediate—and I don’t just mean the thermostat. The service here is a lost art: attentive without hovering, knowledgeable without lecturing, and genuinely welcoming. They treat a Sunday dinner with the same ceremony as a Saturday night gala, which is a kindness that doesn't go unnoticed. The food, of course, is the anchor. It’s unpretentious French brasserie fare done with serious skill—rich, comforting, and designed to make you forget the temperature outside. But honestly? It’s the atmosphere that lingers. In a world of open-concept, industrial-chic dining halls that sound like airplane hangars, L'Albatros remains a sanctuary of intimacy. Verdict: Go for the cheese cart, stay because it feels like a hug from a French grandmother who really knows her wine. A perfect Sunday escape.
We had the most amazing dinner at L’ Albatros and really look forward to the next time we are in town visiting the museums. The service was incredible and the food was even better. We would highly recommend treating yourself to this restaurant. It is conveniently located next to the museum circle. Definitely make a reservation or get there early.
If I could give it 10 stars I would. I'm 45 and this somehow became one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. They were 10 stars in every category, food, atmosphere and service. They threw a no hitter on this night. Wish we knew about this place sooner. If your traveling and happen to be in Cleveland or if your coming up from Akron or whatever, you need to stop in and say hi. You won't be disappointed. Shout out to our server. I think his name was John. He did an awesome job.
