Super comfortable, and very quiet!! Apparently, I am in a recently renovated room...King size bed, 3rd floor with balcony facing the river. Everything works great...mini fridge is spacious for lots of stuff. Room is small but it's just me so it works. I just wish the fan for air/heat wasn't so loud. Other than that, it's very nice. I didn't eat here so can't comment on the food but they do have a little marketplace which could come in handy for supplies when needed.
Location is terrible. There is nothing near by and it is complicated to get to the hotel. Our room had a leak in the air conditioner and the hotel refused to deal with it until we checked out. Our room itself was mediocre. The view was not ideal but I am sure they have nicer. Our room should not have had 2 kings in it - the room was tiny and cramped. There was no stop water running and draining above the room. Every 10 mins you can hear it draining down pipes. Food at the restaurant was ok.

Overall, we had a good stay at River’s Edge Hotel. The property was clean, comfortable, and the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. Like many hotels, though, a little more attention to detail would go a long way. Areas such as the baseboards and bathroom exhaust fans could benefit from more thorough cleaning. Our room included a bathtub, and one suggestion I shared with management before leaving was to consider offering complimentary aromatherapy bath packets. It would be an inexpensive touch that could significantly enhance the guest experience, especially after a long day of exploring Portland. One of the highlights of this property is its location along the Willamette River. Our room had a balcony overlooking the river, creating a beautiful, romantic backdrop to wake up to each morning and a peaceful place to relax in the evening. The hotel also has direct access to the riverfront trail, which is excellent for walking or biking. The trail is mostly flat, making it accessible for just about anyone, regardless of fitness level. One thing I found surprising was how underutilized the hotel’s restaurant and bar seemed to be, as it was only open for breakfast and dinner. There are a handful of restaurants within walking distance, and many more can be reached via the river trail if you don’t mind a longer walk. Downtown Portland is also only about a 5–8 minute drive, depending on traffic, and the hotel offers convenient access to major highways. My biggest criticism is the parking fee. Charging $35 per day for self-parking in an uncovered lot across the street, without visible security monitoring; doesn’t feel like a good value. Complimentary parking would be more appropriate given the setup. Would I stay here again? Yes. However, I wouldn’t pay full price. I’d recommend booking through a discount site to get a better value. In my opinion, you’re primarily paying for the riverfront location and trail access. If those amenities aren’t a priority, you can find hotels closer to the city center within walking distance of more attractions for a similar price.
A quality hotel with Superior and helpful staff. The rooms are excellent and we in particular had a view of the river. Unlike other hotels it was neither too hot or too cold and was stocked well with coffee, a fridge and a microwave. There is a market shop in the lobby to get food items, drink including wine and beer. We would definitely stay there again. The position and location areu excellent for walking by the river and one can walk to and from the OHSU only a mile away. The Old spaghetti factory is only half a mile away along the River Walk. Only two issues that I think the owners should improve and that would be the quality of the food in the restaurant which is more deli style. Since I'm staying at a good hotel I would like to see them serving quality food perhaps with a chef for dining. Second minor issue.. the large rooms with sofa bed as well as the king bed make it possible for two couples to stay but the king sofa bed had a typically uncomfortable and poor quality mattress. In these days of inexpensive mattresses that are comfortable this was disappointing and my friend and carer that came along (since I was having surgery) did not sleep well on the mattress.
Great Location, Terrible Sleep — Avoid Room 2nd Floor Near the Gym Portland has plenty of hotels, and I genuinely wanted to like Rivers Edge. The property itself is decent, but after 4 nights here, I left exhausted and frustrated — and that’s not something you should ever say about a hotel stay. Here’s the problem: the second floor has rooms directly across from the hotel gym, which operates 24 hours a day with zero noise enforcement. I was jolted awake at 1:30 AM, again at 3:00 AM, and again at 4:50 AM by the sound of weights being dropped — reverberating straight through the floor into my room. Not once. Not twice. Multiple nights in a row. I spoke with the front desk twice. To their credit, they acknowledged it’s a known issue — which somehow makes it worse. Knowing there’s a problem and doing nothing structural about it is a choice. Their solution? Politely asking gym guests to keep it down. Within 15 minutes, we were right back to the same thing. A hotel’s most basic promise is rest. That’s the entire transaction. If you can’t sleep, nothing else matters — not the view, not the amenities, not the location. Rivers Edge is breaking that promise for guests unlucky enough to be placed near that gym, and they appear to be perfectly comfortable doing so. If you do book here, demand a room far from the fitness center, preferably on a different floor entirely. Otherwise, bring earplugs and low expectations. 2/5 stars — and honestly, the gym situation alone warrants 1.
