We were lucky enough to get tickets for one of the few Candlelight concerts at the station. It was amazing to sit in that space and listen peacefully, in a place I thought I would never see inside of before it got torn down. The restoration is amazing and I can't thank Bill Ford, Jr. enough for saving this gorgeous piece of architecture and Detroit's history. * I tried to do before and after photos but I don't have exact angles. That's a project for the future! *
We recently visited Michigan Central during the winter display, and I was honestly taken back by the sheer amount of work that has gone into restoring the old train station. Seeing this historic building brought back to life is impressive on its own, but experiencing it in person really puts the scale and care of the restoration into perspective. The seasonal winter setup added a great atmosphere, with thoughtfully designed displays that blended modern creativity with the building’s historic character. The interactive elements and immersive exhibits made it engaging for all ages, and the augmented reality experience that highlights Detroit’s history was a standout touch. It was a great way to connect the past, present, and future of the station. We also appreciated the open, welcoming feel of the space. From the architectural details to the innovation-focused exhibits that showcase what Michigan Central is becoming, it’s clear this isn’t just a restoration project — it’s a vision for the future. Even the on-site food and coffee options made it easy to slow down and really take everything in. What impressed me most is knowing that this is only part of the journey. If this is what the station looks like now, I can’t wait to see what it becomes when it’s completely finished. Michigan Central is a perfect example of honoring history while building something meaningful and exciting for the city’s future. Absolutely worth the visit, and we’ll definitely be back.

We took the tour with Jeff Koslowski as our guide and it was excellent. Insightful tid-bits at every corner, and delivered via special ear pieces so we could all hear without issue in a noisy environment. After seeing the state of this property through the 90's and Oughts, it brings us tears of joy to see the wonderful transformation back to its former glory the Fords have brought. A lovely visit and one I will never forget. *Bonus points for a great selection of coffee beverages at Yellow Light. Yum!*
Very beautifully restored lobby, there was another section next to the Atrium that was closed off that Im dying to see! But its seems its work still being done on that side. I can only imagine the foot traffic through here when the giftshops are open. Ill be back when they open because I want some souvenirs! I enjoyed my quite time here today.
I have always loved this building and was so excited when I learned it was being restored. We visited the other day just after the auto show. The building is beautiful. I would love to go back to check out the architecture. There were a few shops but they were closed. I'm not sure what else is there. The elevators were only for those with key cards.
