I went to University Auto on Linwood Street upon recommendation from a friend unquestioned. I was told that it would cost $1,163.00 for repairs. Ms. Stacy, the service writer gave me the estimate and I was fine with it. The labor was discounted by Rabi $163, which I was grateful for. The labor came to $800 plus Duralast parts $400. Labor itself was $150 per hour plus or minus depending on work performed. I was told warranty was 6 months on parts. I had new strut, inner and outer tire rods and control arm removed and replaced.
I know cars very well and do all my own repairs with the exception of trans and engine work. Rob and the boys are among the best I’ve worked with. Excellent problem solvers and incredibly gracious. I had them replace my trans in my old truck and they even helped me hunt for the part (which was hard to find), manage the logistics for shipping, and even took care of shipping the old one so I could get 500 bucks back. Beacon of light in the Detroit auto shops sector!!

I absolutely love this place. They have the best customer service service. They take their time and get the job done correctly the first time. Most importantly, that receptionist is absolutely phenomenal. She goes over and beyond to make sure you are kept in the loop about your auto repairs. She is very detailed and very professional. Job, well done, will be returning for future services.
Always such great service! Reliable, trustworthy, and quick. My go to mechanic.
University previously worked on my truck. The Linwood & Vicksburg location. I had my truck towed up there on a Tuesday & didn’t remove it for two days…I explained to Rob the problem that I was having with my vehicle. I told him all the lights were coming on in my vehicle and that it had to be something minor.. he insisted it was something else..I have a 2015 Chevy suburban. He told me to just bring it up there. I took my truck up there to him & when I called back to check on my truck which he told me one hour…He started being sarcastic, I actually gave him five hours.. I called back & He told me that my truck needed a Computer Engine $1,100… I went to his shop & when I got there to pick my truck up it had been dismantled. Rob wasn’t there he left to go out of the Country for one week…The two men that were there had to face time him so that he could instruct them on how to put my vehicle back together due to the fact one spoke Arabic and the other spoke Spanish. I took my truck to another shop & within an hour I received a call telling me to come get my Vehicle that it didn’t need an Engine Computer…the battery cable was loose!!! Be careful People!!!
