What an amazing experience! From the moment we walked in, everything was top-notch. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it perfect for a relaxing meal. A special thank you to Jorge Cruz, General Manager, who clearly runs a fantastic operation and made us feel truly welcome. His attention to detail and commitment to great service really show. Also, shoutout to Jonathan, our server, who was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout our visit.
Our first visit to State of Grace was an absolute delight. I stopped in for lunch with my fiancée and every dish impressed us, from the fresh oysters to the rich crab beignets. The lobster roll and gumbo were full of flavor and beautifully prepared. Everything felt special and satisfying. We are already looking forward to coming back to try the dinner menu.

Food is DEFINITELY not worth the price tag. Save your money and get a better steak at travelers table or baso. Wanted to celebrate my partners birthday at a nice establishment and was severely underwhelmed. His filet mignon came in a plate swimming with the juices and no garnish. The crab beignets are not beignets but I guess calling them hush puppies is too “low class” sounding for this establishment. I got the redfish which was well-seasoned but also had disappointing presentation. It barely fit on the plate. Nothing like other review pictures in here. My partners sister got the lobster fettuccine and the lobster was so overcooked she didn’t even want to chew it. Came here solely on good reviews and recommendations and it is safe to say I will save my money and go elsewhere. The only redeeming dish was the steak tartare. Go to a Michelin star instead for this price range and ambience.
Let me preface my review by saying I used to love State of Grace and I have spent thousands here over the past few years. Previously, it was my favorite fine dining restaurant and I’d written a five star review saying as much. The service, pricepoint, food, and experience was unparalleled. I would recommend this place to everyone. I was acquainted with many of the servers and FOH, as well as the chefs. Unfortunately, none of these things ring true anymore, and I can no longer recommend this restaurant. I made a reservation for 11 people for last night for my friend’s birthday. I called that morning to ask a question, and I was greeted by an automated message saying that the restaurant was closed that day for a private event. This sent me into a panic, there was no way I was going to be able to secure a reservation anywhere else so last minute. To my relief, a team member called me back an hour later and clarified that was incorrect and my reservation was still active. The birthday dinner started off fine, they brought our drinks and complimentary bread service, the starters arrived in a timely manner, and we placed our orders for entrees. I requested some extra bread for the table in the meantime. Unfortunately, everything started to go downhill after that. We waited nearly 45 minutes for our entrees. In that time, our server only stopped by the table twice, the second time being right before the food arrived. Both times I requested the additional bread, which was never brought out. We were not given any update on why the entrees were taking so long, nor did we even have a chance to order another round of drinks in the meantime. When the food finally did arrive, we encountered even more issues. My friend and I, as we always do, ordered the health roasted chicken with pomme purée, and requested it they split it amongst two plates. Another friend at our table also ordered the chicken for herself. I was shocked when they brought our half portions out, the pieces of chicken were very small and they only gave each of us one fork full of pomme purée. If you combined our half portions, it wouldn’t even come close to the full portion my forget friend had ordered (the pictures included in my review show both the full portion my friend ordered, and our two half portions, one of which I scraped up all of the pomme purée to show just how little they gave us). Unfortunately, I wasn’t even able to address the issue, because immediately after placing our entrees on the table, our servers disappeared again. They didn’t ask how everything looked, if it was correct, for us to enjoy, nothing. What’s worse is everyone had their food except for one person who had ordered a steak (which is strange, because someone else had ordered streak and that had arrived with the rest of the food). The servers didn’t even mention the missing entree until they came back 10 minutes later, and even then, it was only because we asked them to please check on it. When they did finally come back, I explained that I knew I knew it wasn’t their fault, but there was an inconsistency with the portion sizes with our chicken and pomme purée. I appreciate that they brought us out a full serving of pomme purée at no extra charge, but unfortunately, our chicken was still not only small, but now it was also cold. My friend’s steak arrived 15 minutes after everyone else’s food, and when the FOH team member set it down, she said “here is your steak finally!”, and walked away without offering any sort of apology. The FOH manager made an appearance a few minutes later and assured us they would be comping the steak and extra pomme purée, which I appreciate- but it doesn’t change the fact that the experience, food, and service as a whole was extremely disappointing. Oh, and we finally got the bread I asked for 4 times after my friend’s steak arrived. I miss the old State of Grace, but I doubt it will ever return to its former glory. Unfortunately, I have no intention of dining here ever again.
Nice spot for a quiet dinner and fresh seafood. Would’ve been 5 stars based on taste but my fish had pin bones and for $51 a plate you should be taking the pin bones out. Just saying. But everything else was nice and they even gave out delicious molasses cookies on the way out. Recommended for cocktails and vibes, very cozy ‘90s style fine dining with a causal touch.
