I've been involved with the bike shop there for a dozen or so years and I've seen the transformation from start to finish. An already cool gathering/event/concert space has been rebuilt and redesigned into an incredible, world class urban park, to say nothing of the totally new, most modern performance stage, The Maynard Performance Pavillion. Come on down! It's beautiful!!!
Cool!! Very creative use of existing buildings and infrastructure while integrating native plantings etc. It's genuinely scenic & interesting. Great ideas, brilliant execution-
Lock 3 Park in Akron is a fantastic spot for family-friendly events, and our visit for Polymer Palooza highlighted its great potential. The hands-on activities at Polymer Palooza were incredibly fun and engaging for everyone in our family, making learning enjoyable. The only real downside was the excessively loud music, which sometimes wasn't kid-appropriate and made it tough for presenters to be heard and for sensitive kids to enjoy. Despite the music issue, the park's atmosphere and the quality of the event's activities made for a memorable experience. We'd definitely recommend Lock 3 for its welcoming environment and potential for excellent family fun.

2023 Winterfest at Lock 3. I understand there is some type of construction taking place at the "original" location but this years venue is not great. The activities on offer are super fun, but having it set up under a bridge and having construction materials in the background does spoil the atmosphere. All the staff were super helpful and pleasant, but finding the concession restaurant is quite a challenge and not very well sign posted. Our grandkids had a great time, but it was a poor reflection from years past.
Lock 3 is a fantastic place for concerts. It is an outdoor venue located right next to the Akron Civic Theater on a Lock/water way. There is a large lawn area and most people bring their own folding chairs or blankets to sit on. There are a few permanent benches but you would have to get there really early to get those. There are also paved areas off to one side of the amphitheater that serve as a balcony type area for your folding chairs. There are food and alcohol/beverage trucks. There is also a building that sells food and alcohol/beverages and this building has real bathrooms in it. There are also port a potties. The sound is excellent and most concerts are free. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance. I LOVE Lock 3.
