Robert C. Valade Park is one of my favourite sections of Detroit’s beautiful Riverwalk. What I love most is how the Riverwalk has been thoughtfully divided into different parks, each with its own unique character, atmosphere, and attractions.Families will love the colourful play structures designed to spark children's imagination while encouraging climbing, balancing, and active play. The interactive sound instruments add an extra layer of fun, allowing children to create music and explore different sounds as they play. There is also a beach sand area where little ones can dig and build, as well as a beach volleyball court that brings a lively energy to the park. The park offers plenty of comfortable seating areas where visitors can relax and enjoy the river views. I also enjoyed the outdoor chess area, which provides a fun space for friendly competition and community interaction. My favourite feature is the free recreational centre, which welcomes everyone through its doors. Inside, you'll find tables and chairs perfect for working remotely, meeting friends, taking a break, or simply using the clean and well-maintained restrooms. There is even a convenient bike storage area and onsite security, helping visitors feel safe and comfortable. The location is fantastic, leading directly toward the iconic Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre and connecting seamlessly with the Dequindre Cut Greenway and the Detroit Riverwalk. Nearby conveniences such as Dollar Tree and 7-Eleven are within easy reach, and there is even a charming urban park along the route that is worth exploring. A wonderful waterfront destination that truly showcases Detroit at its best.

I can not believe this was my first time here. What a wonderful time I had with my granddaughter. We just walked the area, enjoying the blooming flowers and terrific Michigan weather. Oh, and the mini donuts are a MUST HAVE
Beautiful 4 mile stretch along the river that separates Detroit from Ontario, Canada. There is free parking here also which is awesome. Highlight of our stay in Detroit..Highly recommend!
Me and Kobie at park number two. She enjoyed playing on the playground climbing up and down. We both enjoyed the view of the river.
I was the safe bus drive, who drove a group of adults to Robert C. Valade Park. We played music and did the hustle, we are some soul food and enjoyed the nice atmosphere and beautiful scene. 2026
