My husband and I had a wonderful time at the pine club this evening. We shared the porterhouse for 2 and it was amazing! It literally melted in mouth. Our server Theresa was so kind and helpful as it was our first time visiting. We do live quite far so I hope we can come back some time. I’m only taking away 1 star because the appetizers could definitely use a little updating to accommodate customers who do not like seafood as those are the only options. I do wish they had a least 1 thing to offer for dessert as well. The coffee was delicious and very homey tasting. The steak though was the star of the show!! And it paired beautifully with the bernaise sauce!
So much has already been said about the greatness of the Pine Club. From the hand-trimmed dry aged steaks to the actual pine paneling on the inside, it’s all been highly praised and deservedly so. All I can humbly do is reaffirm to you that the Pine Club remains a culinary institution in Dayton. 70+years of putting out classic steaks in a classic supper club. Not to mention the delicious sides like the creamed spinach or the succulent lobster. There’s also the extensive wine list. Really impressive. So is the bar! And the service was truly great. They are so true to their roots that they still only accept cash or checks. Or you have the option to open a house account. No credit cards accepted. No reservations taken either. As they say at the Pine Club, “good food is worth the wait”. They put a bow on the meal with an Esther Price after dinner chocolate. Go and experience the history and tradition of the Pine Club with their tender and delicious steaks. Thank me later.

It has been about 20 years since my last meal at The Pine Club and not much had changed. The service was excellent and our waitress did a great job of explaining the menu. We started with the Nantucket scallops and those really stole the show. I shared a double porterhouse with my husband and our son had the rib eye. We ordered both at medium rare but they were definitely more rare and less medium. The flavor of the double porterhouse was good but the meat a bit tough. Stewed tomatoes were excellent and I love the red/blue dressing option. Soft drinks are canned. Fantastic bar which makes a great old fashioned. The noise level is a bit high. Definitely a nice experience but not part of our usual rotation.
This place is amazing and worth the trip. Growing up, my parents used to go there for special occasions. Even though I’ve lived in Florida since I was 6, I’ve made it a point to eat there twice (as of now) as an adult. It’s hard to describe, but you need to experience it for yourself. Bring cash as they don’t accept credit cards.
My hubby and I grabbed dinner with a friend tonight. I got an amazing steak and my hubby got lamb chops. We both really enjoyed our meals. This was a perfect restaurant to have great food and wonderful company.
