June 4 was my first visit to Chestnut Hills Dental in Squirrel Hill. The dentist and staff were all wonderful. The dentist who examined me was especially kind, gentle, and thorough. She continuously checked on me and asked whether I was feeling comfortable during the examination. My English is not very well, but everyone was very patient in explaining my dental issues and treatment options until I fully understood. I truly appreciate all the care and service I received here. I am very satisfied with my experience and would highly recommend this office. Thank you so much!
I had a wonderful experience at Chestnut Hills Dental in Squirrel Hill. Everyone was super nice and since I scheduled my appointment I had the best customer service. First, all the ladies at the front office were really efficient and friendly. Then, Mahak took my X-rays and she took care of me and did an amazing job. She is really good. She was very careful and made me feel comfortable. Then, Dr. Nguyen was very kind and she listened to me, and responded to all of my questions. Then, Cassidy, she was absolutely amazing. She did my cleaning and took care of me gently and she did a fantastic job. Also, I had an excellent experience at the time of checking out. Everyone was super professional and efficient. I highly recommend this place.

As someone who has been going here for the past 4 years, it's noticeably gone downhill in the past year. Unable to place crown, cleanings performed by traveling assistants who weren't super thorough, office management not calling back about important insurance needs. The doctors and assistants are pleasant but I'd rather go somewhere that is competent.
Beware of Invisalign pitches from Dr. Dargan and Chestnut hills generally. Multiple staff members recommended it. A second opinion was sought and they is said it would be an overcorrection. My experience with Dr. Dargan was disappointing primarily because of the lack of communication and empathy throughout my implant treatment. This tooth has a long and complicated history, and I attempted to explain some of that background because it affects my anxiety around dental care. I did not feel that my concerns were acknowledged or discussed. During the implant appointment, I often did not understand what was happening or what the next step would be. For example, I was not aware that the implant would be fully tightened that day, and when I was asked whether I wanted the implant “tighter or looser,” I did not feel I had enough information or context to answer confidently. I became extremely distressed during the appointment and cried for an extended period of time. The dental assistant attempted to communicate my concerns, but I did not feel that Dr. Dargan addressed them directly or checked in with me about how I was doing. I was also concerned by the recommendation for Invisalign. I was told that without treatment my gum recession could worsen and eventually lead to tooth loss. Because this was very different from what I had previously been told, I sought a second opinion and was told that Invisalign was not necessary and that the recommendation appeared to be an overcorrection. When I shared that I had obtained a second opinion, Dr. Dargan stated that she could not have a patient who did not trust her and offered to sign paperwork to transfer my care elsewhere. What was most upsetting to me was not a disagreement about treatment options, but the feeling that my questions, concerns, and emotional distress were not acknowledged. At the end of the appointment, I left without feeling that anyone had discussed whether the implant felt right, whether I had additional questions, or how I was doing after a procedure that was very stressful for me. The dental assistant who worked with me that day was kind, patient, and supportive, and I greatly appreciated her compassion during a difficult experience.
I was seen for a dental cleaning, and the experience was excellent from start to finish. The reception staff were polite and cordial, the cleaning was performed by a highly skilled and incredibly attentive hygienist, and the final consultation with the dentist was both professional and gentle. Congratulations to the Chestnut Hills team! I am extremely satisfied with the care I received.
