THERE WAS A BED BUG UPDATE I spoke with Marianne at the front desk and she told me that bed bug that is clearly visible in the picture, is not a bed bug. The hotel manager Sonseray was once again not in. Marianne had no information about the manager’s schedule and could only suggest I call again in the morning. They are willfully exposing guest to bed bugs and as you can see in the picture, that was a young one. These people should be ashamed of themselves for putting families at risk like they’re doing. I have filed a formal complaint with Marriott and plan to do the same with Cook County as well as the Attorney General. This hotel had the best location by far, which is why I booked it to celebrate my son’s birthday. The check in was great, valet was great. The room wasn’t the cleanest but it wasn’t terrible and I wipe down hotel room surfaces anyway. I had to wipe down the shower also because there was hair everywhere. I’m still being positive because the location is phenomenal. My son is in his bed on the iPad. I’m in my bed setting alarms. He says something was crawling up the wall and fell so I turn on my phone’s flashlight. I see something small and black by the outlet but I can’t see what it is. It crawled away super fast and I told him it was probably a spider or ant. I turn around to my bed and see something crawling across the corner of the bed. It’s a bed bug and I tell my son to run to the bathroom and get tissue. I grab it with my nails through the tissue and yep, it’s a bed bug. When I called the front desk the young lady was very apologetic and said they’d move me right away. A young man comes to the room, he gives us the new room keys, and I show him the bedbug in the tissue. He was also very apologetic. I asked him if the hotel has a bed bug issue but he says it’s the first time that he’s aware of. I hope it’s a one off but I’m not confident because as you can see in the picture, that’s like a baby bed bug. We go up to the new one and I do the same wipe down of the surfaces. This time I pull the bedding back. I don’t see any bed bugs but the mattresses and sheets are covered with stains. I go in the bathroom and I just wanted to cry. It was so dirty. This room had a tub that looked like it had not been cleaned in weeks. This has been an awful experience. It’s almost 3am and I can’t relax enough to sleep. I feel itchy now and I can’t just get up and go because I just drove 4.5 hours to get here. This wasn’t the birthday weekend I wanted for my son or myself.

This place was ok but I wouldn’t return. Front desk service was rude, you can hear your neighbors, and these rooms need an update. Everything felt really cheap. The walls were scratched, our bathroom door didn’t even close, and there was a stain on the sheets. They also do not offer daily housekeeping unless upon request, but I was told by the front desk they aren’t always able to honor it even when requested. The location is good and the hotel bar is decent. I think you can do better in the area for the price.
The best thing about Aloft is its convenient location—close to so many great places. The hotel met all of our basic needs and made for a comfortable stay overall. One area that could use improvement is the bedroom lighting, which could definitely benefit from an overhaul. That said, the service more than made up for it. I want to specifically call out Merica Seales, Guest Service Agent, for her amazing customer service and quick help in resolving a lighting issue in my room. She was professional, attentive, and truly appreciated. A few nearby spots are worth mentioning: Starbucks Reserve is only a 7-minute walk away and is absolutely not to be missed, and I would also highly recommend JuiceRx, just a 2-minute walk from the hotel. Overall, it was a pleasant stay. Thank you, Merica, for making the experience even better!
One of the Best Marriotts ever! Awesome vibes, fun pool, clean gym. And the best part of my stay was the friendly, professional staff who were always above and beyond. If you think these staff are anything but perfect…I read for example one reviewer saying staff was “unprofessional,” maybe you need to evaluate yourself and think about how unprofessional you must have been to get them to be that way to you. 10/5 great job!
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! Customer Service Sabrina , Marlo & Amazing Dawn assisted me when, I needed to call back to check on something. She was extremely helpful! This was our 1st time staying there! We will definitely be back! The rooms were spacious & clean. Centrally located to a lot of things! Respectfully, Dr. Bowles
