From the moment I arrived until I checked out, everything about my stay exceeded my expectations. This is easily one of the best Thompson properties I've ever stayed at. What impressed me the most was the staff. Everyone I interacted with, from valet and the front desk to the restaurant servers, was genuinely kind, welcoming, and professional. They all seemed happy to be there, which says a lot about the leadership and work environment. The food was exceptional. Every meal was delicious, and it was obvious that the chef takes pride in what they do. It's not often you can taste that level of care and consistency. My room was spotless, comfortable, and well maintained. The property was easy to navigate, and everything felt convenient and thoughtfully designed. What really made this stay unforgettable was the service. It's hard to put into words just how impressed I was. Every interaction left a positive impression, and I never once felt like I was just another guest. I'm so glad I chose to stay here. It was an outstanding experience from start to finish, and I would absolutely stay here again. Without hesitation, I highly recommend it. 10 out of 10.
From the moment we checked in, I knew this stay was going to be special. Sammy at the front desk was juggling a full line of guests, but she still greeted us with the warmest smile, so professional and respectful even in the middle of a busy check-in rush. It set the tone for everything that followed. Our room wasn't quite ready at 2pm, which we completely understood, so we spent the afternoon at the pool instead — and honestly, it turned out to be a blessing. The pool scene was amazing, with a great DJ keeping the music going, and Luis, who took care of us there, was so attentive, kind, and professional. He made the wait feel like part of the vacation instead of an inconvenience. When 3pm (the official check-in time) came and went, Megan, who I believe is the front desk manager, called us personally to apologize and offered us an upgraded room with the most amazing view. That alone would have been more than enough, but she didn't stop there — she kept checking in on us after we settled in, just to make sure we had everything we needed. Then, when we mentioned we'd hoped to eat at a restaurant next door with no reservation available, Megan walked over there herself to see if she could find us a spot. She did. I've traveled to so many luxury properties around the world, and I can honestly say I have never encountered the kind of genuine, heartfelt hospitality that Megan showed us. It wasn't performative or scripted, it came from a truly kind and giving place. Hyatt is so lucky to have someone like her on their team, and I hope the company recognizes and takes care of her the way she took care of us. Thank you, Megan, Sammy, and Luis, for making our stay unforgettable. This was, without a doubt, one of the most pleasant hotel experiences we've ever had, and we will absolutely be back every time we're in Houston.

This hotel is beautiful! I came here for my birthday as a staycation and it did not disappoint. The location was ideal, I was able to walk to my pilates class, buffalo bayou park and nearby restaurants. The corner suite was gorgeous and had a great view of the city, the restaurants on site were delicious and the staff was exceptional especially Alex! He added some celebratory wine to be sent to the room and helped me get the best room for my birthday stay. I am already planning when to go back.
Considering the premium rates this hotel charges, I do regard it as a luxury property. We actually come here every year for a staycation because the facilities and hardware are consistently excellent. The rooms are comfortable, well-maintained, and the overall property is beautiful. Compared to our last stay, the breakfast has improved noticeably. The quality of the food is better, and the service is much faster, which made for a more enjoyable start to the day. That said, I think the staff training could be more consistent. We experienced a few service hiccups during our stay that wouldn't normally be expected at a hotel in this price range. The staff were polite, but there is room to improve in terms of professionalism and execution. One area that needs attention is the pool maintenance, especially during peak season. The water was not as clean and clear as we expected, so we decided not to let our daughter use the pool. On the other hand, the housekeeping and room service teams were outstanding. They were professional, efficient, and detail-oriented throughout our stay. Their excellent service really stood out and was one of the highlights of our visit. Overall, we still enjoy staying here and will likely return for our annual staycation. With a bit more focus on staff training and pool maintenance, the hotel would better reflect the premium experience its pricing suggests.
I booked a two-night stay at the Thompson Houston specifically to relax and enjoy a luxury pool experience with an important VIP client, and it ended up being one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve had. When we first arrived, the hotel itself seemed welcoming, but the entire experience completely fell apart once we got to the pool area. The pool was overcrowded with kids jumping, screaming, splashing guests nonstop, and there was absolutely no sense of a relaxing luxury atmosphere whatsoever. It felt more like a public waterpark than a high-end hotel pool. To make matters worse, there were no available seats anywhere. After waiting around awkwardly, staff placed us in the worst possible spot — shoved into a corner directly next to the bathroom entrance — and told us it was “the best seat available.” Meanwhile, multiple cabanas sat completely empty for hours, yet we were repeatedly told they were “fully reserved all day.” The most frustrating part was the response from management. After we complained to the front desk manager about the situation and the lack of accommodations for paying hotel guests, instead of actually resolving the issue, we were suddenly offered a “discount” on a cabana — despite previously being told every cabana was supposedly booked for the entire day. So which was it? Reserved or available? The whole experience felt disorganized, misleading, and incredibly disrespectful, especially considering I brought a VIP client expecting a luxury experience. For the price this hotel charges, the service and pool management were unacceptable. There was zero effort to accommodate guests, no accountability from management, and absolutely no concern for the experience we paid for. I will not be returning, and I would strongly recommend anyone looking for a peaceful luxury stay in Houston look elsewhere.
