I'd say this is my favorite Thompson Hotel that I've visited so far. Great location right on the river and not far from downtown. The rooms were classy and service was great. Shout out to Parker, who helped us with the complementary e-bikes. He was extremely helpful and mitigated any issues efficiently. I also checked out the 'House Car' service. They dropped me off at Shell Energy Stadium with no fuss. The only caveat with that is that you can't book in advance and they can't pick you up. The front desk was very accommodating, they helped us get breakfast items for an early suhoor breakfast due to Ramadan. We did have to wait a few hours for the room to be ready but nonetheless the service was amazing. I wasn't able to try the restaurant (besides what pastries we had gotten for breakfast) so I can't comment on that yet. However, I did try the coffee shop, Maven, and it was great. They have a 10% discount for hotel guests and I got the Pandan Matcha Latte for 5 dollars. It was a little sweet for my liking but it was still pretty good. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to enhance their vacation in Houston.
We haven’t officially stayed at the hotel yet, but after experiencing the French restaurant on the first floor, I have to say — Thompson Houston absolutely delivers on luxury and atmosphere. The moment you walk into the lobby, the scent immediately sets the tone. It’s immersive, polished, and quietly sophisticated. The decor feels intentional and curated, especially with the unique sculptures displayed throughout the first floor. It doesn’t feel generic — it feels designed. From the food, ambience, and service we experienced downstairs at Chardon, it’s clear the hotel maintains a high standard. If the restaurant reflects the property, then staying here must be just as elevated. Valet parking is smooth and convenient — always a plus in Houston — and the overall experience feels seamless from the moment you arrive. Even without an overnight stay, the impression is strong. This is the kind of place that makes you want to come back — next time, for a full stay. Approved by Review Queen 👑 Powered by Monkey King Media 🐒

We had a wonderful stay at Thompson Houston for my birthday! This is a beautiful property with great amenities, including access to the large gym next door and discounts at the coffee shop downstairs as well. Emma working the front desk reception was such a delight, great conversation during our check in. The guys in valet and everything downstairs were top notch as well. Overall, staying here for my birthday was a really great decision!
Overall it’s a very nice hotel with warm employees. We only stayed for one night so didn’t enjoy all the amenities, but what we were able to (gym, restaurant), were good. We especially enjoyed the water stations in the hallway of each floor where you could get sparkling water along with still! Decorations and rooms are modern and clean. Ask for a room with downtown view if you can - it’s nice! One thing to note if you booked via Amex like me is that the cost of Valet I cannot be covered by the $100 stay credit - something to keep in mind if you need to park. I was counting on being able to cover the $65 with this credit, so it was disappointing when I found out I couldn’t. Giving you a heads up so you know going in - not something that should hold you back from picking this hotel, though! Valet service is very efficient. The one small hiccup we encountered was the very slow service at breakfast. They seemed to be overwhelmed the Sunday morning we stayed and there was a long lines forming and people were visibly upset. Lunch service was perfectly fine, however.
I had such a wonderful time at The Thompson! The customer service was truly outstanding. Everyone I met was incredibly warm, welcoming, and gracious. Any questions I had were answered patiently and kindly. The breakfast service at the hotel was a delightful experience, especially thanks to a very sweet waitress Anh who was consistently attentive and made sure I was doing well, even though I was outside alone. Joe, the valet, was also such a kind-hearted man, and Allison at the front desk was very helpful. Everyone I interacted with during my stay was gracious and friendly, and the customer service truly stood out. The hotel itself is stunning, with beautiful design and spacious, spotless rooms. I definitely look forward to returning for another staycation soon.
