We stayed at weekend at the Lodge, it was so nice. First and foremost, the staff and service is Wonderful! We had one of the lofts in the Northside, so we had two levels with 4 beds and a balcony. We did this stay for our sons 13th birthday and my fiances 44th birthday! I only gave the rooms 4 stars because they are in serious need of a remodel. They are so outdated compared to the rest of the place. They are renovating so hopefully refreshing the rooms are in that renovation too. But the beds were soooo comfortable and even if they dont renovate the rooms, we will be back. We had so much fun! There is so much to do!
2.5 stars -- not worth the cost ($210 after taxes). Upon check-in (4pm, later than most hotels) there were 6 people ahead of me and one person working the desk. It took 20 minutes to check-in and there was a children's birthday party in the lobby-- people running, throwing balloons, tossing things overhead. Just chaos. The hotel was absolutely packed!! If it was that bad in February I can't even contemplate how it would be in the warmer months. The kids play area that was meant for toddlers had adults and older children in there taking photos and climbing over the half walls (with their shoes on). The pool was so full that people couldn't even move -- whatever the occupancy limit was it was over that 100%. It was so full that even when people got out we wouldn't feel comfortable going in with how dirty it would be. The gym is great for people who want to do cardio but there are no weights, only a cable machine that was shorter than standard due to the ceiling height. Kids from the night before had trashed it with capri suns and candy wrappers littering the floor. The hotel has many fireplaces and sitting areas available and that's very nice! If you want a fireplace though you really need to claim it and not leave for a moment We ordered food to go from the restaurant -- pizza and fries were OKAY and the Reuben was absolutely delicious. Staff was very kind and communicated well with updates/timing. The coffee in the library was not very good. Rooms were updated, clean and had a beautiful balcony. The hand soap was empty and they never filled it after we asked them to. Also, the refrigerator was off when we checked in and was very loud once we turned it on. The room took a few hours to heat to 71°. In conclusion, the rooms were updated, the food was ok, and the indoor amenities would have been great if it weren't over populated with a free for all mentality with people of all ages. The staff was nice but I think they are significantly understaffed.

My daughter and I were in Cottage 13 over Valentine's Day weekend, and had a really terrible end to our stay. We had a broken microwave in our cabin - which in and of itself isn't unmanageable. It would beep non-stop, and needed to be unplugged and plugged back in to work... which was annoying, but we just left it unplugged and would plug it in when we needed it. Our bigger issue was the fire alarm. We awoke before 5 AM on Sunday to a fire alarm in the cabin - we quickly put on coats and evacuated the cabin. We called the front desk, but 20 minutes later there was no fire or smoke, so we headed back in. It started back up immediately, so we waited for someone from the property to arrive. He brought a leaf blower in and blew off the fire alarm and told us it was fine. By then we weren't getting back to sleep, and we weren't sure the alarm wouldn't go off again, so we threw our clothes in our suitcases, checked out, and drove home. It was a couple hour drive home, and I didn't think I'd be up for the drive after hanging out at the lodge for a few more hours. I never got any call or response from the place after asking to talk to someone that evening. The lodge is a nice place, and I don't mind the older stuff in the cottages - you know when you stay at a state park lodge cabin you're not getting the four seasons. My wife and kids have stayed at Mohican and Salt Fork Cabins, so we knew what to expect. This was just an unusually poor experience. I'm not sure if it's indicative of all the Ohio State parks, but I'll probably seek other options going throughout the state next time.
Beautiful rooms & pool. The entire lodge is gorgeous. Fireplaces throughout with living room settings so you can relax. Food is a little pricey but it's the same at all of the ohio lodges. Fun arcade area. Excellent staff
This place is a disaster. They have no control whatsoever. Kids running up and down the halls at all hours of the night banging on doors. The pool is decent but they have nowhere to sit or put your things. We stood for over 40 minutes waiting to be checked in. Then went back later and stood for another 20 minutes while the only person working in the entire hotel was “away making coffee” leaving the front desk completely unoccupied. Perfect place to avoid if you actually want to enjoy your stay
