I cannot say enough good things about the care I’ve received at Ascent Family Medicine. In particular, I've received truly exceptional support from Dr. Liesmaki, Julie, and Megan; they are an incredible team who truly make you feel seen and cared for. They approach every visit with empathy, kindness, and thoroughness, and I feel so grateful to have them on my care team. The front office staff is equally wonderful — always warm and welcoming. I especially appreciate their transparency regarding the schedule when you come in for a visit. We all have urgent needs sometimes (and sometimes we are the reason for the delay!), but the staff is always clear if a doctor is running late. It’s rare to find a practice that balances medical expertise with a personal, communicative touch.
I’ve been coming here for several years and have consistently had excellent experiences. The front desk staff, medical assistants, Julie Gunnarson, NP, and Dr. Townsend are all attentive, kind, and genuinely invested in patient care. They take the time to listen and make sure I feel comfortable with the plan, which is rare in primary care. I never feel rushed or overlooked, and that level of care keeps me coming back, even though the location is not as convenient as it once was.

As a new patient of Dr. Megan Townsend at Ascent Family Medicine, I am very impressed with her focus on my concerns, attention to detail, thorough explanations and follow-through. She listens carefully and provides sound advice. The office portal makes it very easy to receive quick summaries of office visits and to communicate with her remotely. I highly recommend Dr. Townsend.
I've been a patient at this clinic for nearly 12 years, and have been prescribed fluoxetine (Prozac) for approximately 8 years. I have also had automatic refills for a 90-day supply of this daily medication for years and have never had an issue with this. Unbeknownst to me I needed to have an in-person medication review appointment for this most recent refill. I was not notified of this and will now possibly go a few days without my medication. The receptionist with whom I spoke, Jill, was condescending and seemed reluctant to help. I asked if I could have a bridge for the medication to tide me over until I can get an appointment. She asked if it was a controlled substance to which I replied, "I don't think so, it's fluoxetine." Jill replied, "Fluoxetine is a controlled substance." This is incorrect. Fluoxetine is a SSRI with a low to no potential for addiction and abuse. However, when stopped suddenly there can be serious unpleasant side effects, hence why I don't want to go without. I'm sorry but no one is abusing Prozac/having a party/selling it on the street. Christ. Read a book. If it was Adderall, Xanax, completely understand. She ultimately stated she "would ask" the provider for a bridge but couldn't make any promises, after I asked a second time. Regardless, her tone and demeanor were quite off putting. I will be changing primary care providers after this experience.
I've had some recent issues come up and needed to come in immediately - and they were able to accommodate me quickly, and Megan Sushil is the BEST. She made me feel so comfortable, especially when I needed a small procedure, and she's so professional and knowledgeable. I highly recommend seeing Megan when you choose Ascent!!
