This was my first experience visiting Pittsburgh. I’m a big Cubs fan and wanted to see your stadium, and I came away very impressed overall. The service I received during my stay was good, and the breakfast was great. The staff helping with breakfast were especially friendly and welcoming. My only issue was with the room odor. I’ve raised four teenage sons, and the smell reminded me of a giant shoe they might have worn nonstop. I noticed the odor as soon as I got off the elevator and throughout the hallway, and unfortunately it continued inside my room for the entire stay. It just wasn’t very pleasant or inviting. Other than that, the rest of my experience was very good, and I appreciated the hospitality during my visit.
Can’t beat the location, but the facility needs upkeep. The bathroom sink in my room took at least three minutes to drain after a basic hand-washing. This in and of itself wouldn’t normally make me write a Google review—everyone’s sink gets slow from time to time. However, the unfortunate woman working the desk on 7/24/26 around 4:30pm was enough to make me turn to the internet at large. The hotel somehow lost the reservation details for my tour group. I don’t know how. Again, things happen and again, this would be forgivable if the woman had any sense of customer service or professionalism. If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s someone being unkind—all people deserve dignity and respect. Especially those who are waiting over an hour for you to figure out your own error. Our sweet tour guide who our group spent the past five days with ended his interaction with this woman in tears. He asked to speak to a manager and received a hasty “I am the manager!” as she hobbled away. His group also likely brings a lot of business to this motel, so a repeat customer should receive a bit of patience, a respectful tone, and the effort to make it right on behalf of a group of twenty people expecting to sleep at your motel. Miraculously, we DO have a reservation and are checked into our rooms after that nightmare of an experience. We don’t really have a choice, since we all arrived on a bus. But our guide, we’ll call him Matt , felt so poorly he left and found a room at another motel. A stressful situation, indeed. But a bit of kindness goes a long way. To this manager/staff, please seek therapy to address whatever is going on in your life and learn some more adaptive coping skills. To the GM, please identify this woman and connect her with an employee assistance program. Life is too short to be an angry, impatient, and unprofessional person. Human interaction matters more than any slow sink drain and delayed, chaotic check in.

Great for access to the city and the Stadiums. North side can be a fun place when there's a reason to be here. The hotel itself is... OK. I mean the facilities are kind of old and warn down... Rooms keep you cool and dry on a hot day. Nothing too exciting about them.
The location is great for a pirates game, but it's overshadowed by issues with the hotel. We got to the place at 4:30, they didnt have any queen rooms ready yet, no problem we waited for 30 minutes. We finally get to our room, its alright but the bathroom needs lots of work, very poorly designed. The hotel is starting to show its age, and isnt being kept up well, you notice it from the rooms, to the lobby. Also breakfast ends at 9:00 which is odd but alright.
This was one of the most disappointing Marriott stays I've experienced. Our room's air conditioning failed, and despite reporting it immediately, the room remained at 76+ degrees for well over 12 hours. Our first night was miserable, and one of my sons even woke up feeling nauseous because of the heat. We left for a baseball game expecting the issue to be fixed while we were gone, only to return to a room that was just as hot. Trying to get assistance only added to the frustration. After notifying the front desk again, no one from maintenance arrived for more than 30 minutes. I then waited over 20 additional minutes just to speak with a manager before we were finally moved to another room. Unfortunately, the air conditioning wasn't the only issue. The room phone didn't work, the bathtub drained so poorly that it retained a significant amount of standing water, and construction noise began around 6:00 a.m. What has been even more disappointing is what happened afterward. The manager assured me they would follow up by email after our stay to address these issues. That never happened. I later sent a courteous follow-up email and have yet to receive any response. As a multi-year Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite member and Lifetime Gold Elite member, I've stayed at Marriott properties for many years because I trust the brand's commitment to quality and customer service. This experience fell far below those expectations. While maintenance issues can happen at any hotel, failing to communicate with a loyal guest or honor a promised follow-up is what ultimately earned this one-star review. I sincerely hope management begins placing the same priority on customer service that Marriott has built its reputation on.
