Don't leave Nashville without trying Hattie B's! Everything we tasted was good from the made-to-order fried chicken wings to the Sweet & Smoky grilled chicken sandwich, macaroni and cheese, banana pudding and cornbread croutons. But 2 show stoppers were the GREENS and WAFFLES! Get the greens for your side and I think you can add 2 waffles for $1. Trust me, they're delicious. You will thank me later. The customer service here was also great. We went to the original location, probably about an hour before closing time, and were pleasantly surprised to find that the line wasn't very long at all.
Stopped in for the hot chicken sandwich, fries, greens, and mac & cheese. Everything was great. The chicken was crispy and not greasy at all — exactly what you want in Nashville hot chicken. The fries were solid, the greens had good flavor, and the mac & cheese was creamy and comforting. My only note is on the heat. The regular “Hot” wasn’t quite spicy enough for me, so I went with the Ghost Pepper level and it was just right — solid kick without killing the flavor. If you like your chicken with some real heat, definitely ask about the higher options. Overall a strong experience and worth the stop.

Parking lot is itty bitty. Be prepared to wait in line for 15-30 minutes if dining in during peak hours. Then it’ll take another 20 minutes or so for the food to be made and brought out to you. Other than that I don’t have any complaints. The chicken was juicy, flavorful, and spicy. The fries were seasoned well and the waffles were tasty. Portion sizes are large. Come hungry.
Hattie B’s has the kind of energetic Nashville atmosphere where people are excited about spice before they even order. The line moves quickly, and the smell of fried chicken and hot seasoning fills the restaurant. I ordered the hot chicken plate, chicken tenders, pimento mac and cheese, and baked beans. The hot chicken was crispy, juicy, and definitely spicy, with heat that built as I kept eating. The tenders were a little easier to manage but still flavorful. The pimento mac and cheese was creamy and rich, and the baked beans added a sweet, smoky side. This is comfort food with a kick. It is messy, casual, and very Nashville.
Went to try this place because of the high reviews. There was a long line, so I assumed it would be worth it. They only had one person taking orders, and the service was very slow. The food was average at best, nothing really stood out. The grits oddly tasted like potatoes to me, though the mac and cheese was actually good. We also tried the Buddy Ale, which tasted good, but it wasn’t even cold. On the positive side, there’s plenty of seating, and the porch area is really nice to sit in—plus it’s dog-friendly.
