This was my first time here and Im so sad I waited so long to discover this place. Everything was so great. All of the food we had was delicious. Level of service was amazing. I cannot even think of anything that wasn't spectacular. Starting off the Eggplant Fries were INSANELY good. Im having trouble describing in words how yummy they were. All of the tasty food id recommend: eggplant fries, scallops, Tomato Bruschetta, and then literally any of the following: plate dinners, pizzas, sandwiches. You will have a difficult time finding anything that isn't good.
Wheat Penny’s atmosphere is casual and comfortable with plenty of space and excellent service. The drinks menu is extensive and the unique food items are diverse with plenty of vegetarian options. We enjoyed the Burrata Eggplant, Scallops, and Creamed Spinach with exceptional sides of mashed cauliflower and butternut squash. Each item was uniquely flavored and Yummy! We also ordered a vegetarian pizza with quality toppings - loved the artichoke hearts!

Great upscale location! We went after pride because I know that this is a restaurant that is inclusive. Not only that, but the inside is beautiful, and the food is delicious. I recommend the okie dokie pizza we got. The mushroom sandwich we got was also very good. I told the server that I was splitting the food with my gf, and he took the initiative to give us separate plates with the food divided. My one critique- the potato wedges are not good. We got the arugula and cauliflower salad as well, and that needed a different dressing. Overall though, I absolutely recommend.
Overall, ok. If you want an okay Italian meal with good service and good drinks this is fine. I definitely have had better Italian food in Dayton. Went there for our anniversary on a Saturday, prices made us think it would be a little more on the upscale side, it was not. Atmosphere was weird. Customers were more casual than we had expected. The restaurant had their To Go prep station in the very much in the dining room, so it took away from the dining experience watching them bag and do their side work. The service was good, quick to refill waters and overall pleasant. My drink was great, the bar overall seems like better half of the restaurant. Food was ok. The warm focaccia bread was awesome, that is the only food I’d go back for. My pizza was dry and lacked flavor. My partner enjoyed his pasta, but said not worth going back for. I wouldn’t go there again personally. Love the queer allyship! That is great! Just wish the pizza had been better and the vibes a little nicer to match the prices. Edit: they never responded to the email!
The pizza was decent! Other menu items and drinks we got taste-wise were a bit mid. I appreciated the presentation and environment, but not somewhere I will crave to back in the future anytime soon? Likely could get great pizza and cheaper elsewhere to be honest!
