This place was nothing short of amazing! I found it years ago and finally had the opportunity to spend the night. It was well worth the wait. One night wasn't nearly long enough. Will have to stay longer next time. It was beautifully furnished with antiques and period furnishings. Betty's experience and love for what she does is transparent in every detail. When we were served breakfast it looked simple enough, but tasted better than anything I've ever had of its kind! We were able to sit on the back porch until after sunset and it was so peaceful. Unfortunately it was too warm during out stay to make use of the fireplace, but maybe next time!
Great place to relax. It was wonderful to sit on the porches (front and back!) while it rained, watching the chickens and listening to the birds. We even had deer join us just outside the fence line! Breakfast was lovely and different both days. The owners are also lovely. I unfortunately didn't take a single photo, but the property is beautiful and photos wouldn't have done it justice anyway ☺

This place is such a great location for those who love the style of Early American homes and for those around the Pittsburgh area. The architecture is an exceptional masterpiece, combining two log cabins to achieve such a grandiose home. They used the leftover wood to create a springhouse. They also have a garden and animals on the property. the chickens greeted us while the goats remained on the top of the hill wondering what we were doing. The rooms were clean and the furniture was either antique or blended in with the overall antique atmosphere of the home. the bed upstairs was an 1858 rope bed that was very comfortable with a trundle bed for either a child or if someone wants to sleep separately or low to the ground. There was a back sitting area and a porch that made one feel like you were going back in time and enjoying the scenery after a hard day's work in the fields or chopping wood. Milk and orange juice, as well as cereal, coffee, and tea were provided for us and we did not eat breakfast as we wanted to get to Pittsburgh early. Overall, I recommend this place to anybody who loves old architecture and wants a nice place to stay for either vacation or business, this is the place to calm the mind and spirit.
What a wonderful getaway for us that was practically in our own back yard! The home was absolutely beautiful from decorations to farm animals and nature in the back yard. We had a girls weekend and loved it! The only thing I would’ve changed is more comfortable seating in the living room. There were four of us. We are all over fifty, so it was an adventure for two of us to sleep in the loft with a ladder! All the thoughtful extra touches were wonderful!
This is our third stay at Oak Noggin. Always so clean with the little extra like juice, milk, snacks, soap and shampoo. The grounds are beautiful and you can sit on the back porch or swing on the front porch. This is one of the best B&B we have stayed in. Betty is wonderful and an amazing cook. Just outside of Pittsburgh, it truly is the best.
