I recently stayed at the Westin Book Cadillac and overall had a very solid experience, though there were a few bumps in the road regarding service. The Rooms: The rooms here are excellent. They feel fresh, upscale, and maintain that classic Detroit charm without feeling dated. The bed was incredibly comfortable, which is exactly what I look for in a Westin stay. Starbucks Reserve: Having a Starbucks Reserve right in the lobby area is a massive perk. It’s much better than your standard hotel coffee shop, offering a great atmosphere and higher-end brews that made my mornings a lot easier. Location: The location is decent. It’s central enough to get where you need to go downtown, and the historic architecture of the building itself is impressive. Room for Improvement The only real frustration I encountered was with the front desk staff. Despite having high Marriott Bonvoy status—which usually makes travel a bit smoother—the staff was not accommodating when I requested a late checkout to help me with a later than usual flight. I understand hotels get busy, and that this perk is only available when there is availability, but the lack of flexibility or even a proactive effort to help felt a bit dismissive given my loyalty to the brand. Bottom Line: It’s a beautiful hotel with great amenities and comfortable rooms, but don't count on much flexibility from the staff if you're looking for a little extra time on your departure day.
Beautiful hotel! Probably one of the nicest I’ve ever stayed in. The history is pretty interesting too. Has a free printer in the business center which came in handy for my presentation. This place definitely caters to a much higher tax bracket than I am in, so the restaurants and bars are insanely expensive. Some drinks were $30 or more dollars so be prepared. Luckily there’s a corner store next door if you want to save money lol the room service though was weirdly affordable and supremely delicious for a salad. I love all their healthy options. Didn’t want to leave! I wish they would have kept a bit more of the turn of the century charm with the tiling and art deco mosaics. The turn towards austere blank grey and white spaces isn’t my thing but it was still beautiful for what it was.

We had a great experience here. Room was very nice and clean. All of the employees were helpful, knowledgeable and kind. Shout out to LJ! She was awesome! We had a very good time in Detroit. This was our first time here and we loved it. Downtown is clean and walkable, everyone was friendly and there are so many beautiful buildings, monuments, artwork and churches. The Canadian border is approximately a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
I would honestly rate my overall experience one star, but I’ll give it three stars because one of the managers was very kind and helpful, and I do like the hotel’s location. I was staying here for the Hour Detroit event, and check-in was an absolute mess. I called ahead and was told that our room was ready, so we drove all the way to Detroit expecting to check in right away. However, when we arrived, we were met by a very rude front desk employee who informed us that our room was not ready and that it would be another hour or so before we could check in. I asked to speak with the manager I had spoken to on the phone, but instead of helping me, she rudely told me to step aside and proceeded to assist other guests without offering any explanation or further assistance. On a positive note, the bellhop was very sweet. Unfortunately, my pink duffel bag and body pillow were somehow damaged while in the hotel’s care. My body pillow and bag looked like it had been run over. I originally wanted to carry it upstairs myself, but I was encouraged to let the staff handle our belongings. I’m extremely disappointed that not only was the experience poor, but my belongings were damaged as well!! Now I have to replace both items, which only adds to the frustration. We were really hoping this would become our new go-to hotel when visiting the city and that we’d have a great experience, but unfortunately, after this stay, it’s off our list!
This was our first visit to Detroit, and the location of the hotel was conveniently located across the street from where the DAX airport shuttle stops and within easy walking distance of everything we wanted to see in downtown Detroit. We arrived around 4:30pm and found a fairly long line at check-in, but the four ladies working the front desk kept things moving efficiently and got everyone checked in quickly. As part of the check-in process, we were given the option to forgo housekeeping in exchange for a $20 credit that could be used at the hotel's restaurants or bar, which we took advantage of Our room was on the 21st floor but it had only a single small window with no view. The room itself was comfortable and clean, though the decor was a bit sterile and lacking in character. The shower was excellent, with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. Overall, it was a comfortable stay and the convenience of the location made it a great base for exploring Detroit.
