Such a beautiful botanical garden! It has so many peaceful places to walk, relax, and sit, which I really loved. I enjoyed seeing the ducks, wildlife, and all of the beautiful plants throughout the gardens. It felt like a wonderful place to spend a quiet afternoon. The only suggestion I have is to check and secure some of the wooden boards on the bridge. I stepped on one that felt a little loose, and since I saw several kids running across it, I thought it was worth mentioning so no one gets hurt. There were also a few areas with a strong odor, which may just be from the ducks or the water, so it wasn’t a huge issue. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely visit again. The gardens are beautiful, peaceful, and well worth the trip.
It is a lovely garden that has a wide variety of plants and some wildlife as well. The downsides, parking is very limited, we had to park on a neighborhood street and walk 4 blocks. They had no maps available except for the one posted. A QR code to link the map would have been helpful. There are some stairs and some of the stair had no handrail. Many of the paths are not paved and have small inclines or declines. If you have limited mobility, it may be difficult to navigate. There were restrooms but they are at the opposite end of the park from the entrance. They were not clean, very crowded at the sink and had no hand towels. They do charge an entrance fee, I feel that the experience could have been better for what we paid. The senior discount is $1 less than the full price ticket

We visited in the first week of May and the Rhododendrons were blooming like crazy. It's a beautiful easy walk with lots of wildlife. We saw a bald eagle land in a tree and also saw, on a log in the lake, an animal I'd never heard of called a Nutria. Sort of like a beaver or a muskrat. Great place to spend an afternoon
Beautiful park but the parking lot is very small and it's much easier to simply street park and walk to the entrance. I found parking on SE Martins which is a short distance away. Entrance fee was $9 general and $8 senior and credit card was accepted. ***NOTE- they have a high fee for professional photography which is NOT easy to find on their site (3 clicks and you have to actively look for it) the fees are significant and their policy on their site differs from what I saw at the entrance in that on the site it's for professional photography and at the entrance it seems like you will be charged even if you just have a "professional" DSLR type camera which is fairly ridiculous to me. This info also should be on the same page as their entrance fee schedule. I strongly suggest you contact the garden via email prior to arrival to ensure you fully know their camera policy so no bad experience awaits you like some other reviews on here notate. Having said the above I thankfully only had my camera phone so was in the clear. The garden is well laid out and despite it looking quite busy it never really felt that way. Meandering trails really helped in this regard and there were plenty of benches placed around to rest or just take in the sights and sounds. Restrooms (2 of them) were at the very end of the garden so plan accordingly. In all I spent a little over 90 minutes walking around and enjoying the gardens.
Nine dollars. One of the best value-to-scenery ratios in Portland. We came for my wife's birthday and only had about 90 minutes. We could have easily doubled that. The rhododendrons are hitting peak bloom right now and the variety and scale are something I genuinely didn't know was possible. The color saturation is flat-out elite. The wooden bridges are the structural stars. The one with the circular arch creates a perfect geometric reflection in the water below. Intentional design that makes the walk feel curated rather than just a park stroll. I uploaded the photo. You're welcome. The garden's relationship with Eastmoreland Golf Course is brilliant urban planning. Hole 12 is visible from the path and it sold me on the spot. I'm heading back in two days to play it. Canadian geese nesting throughout, unbothered and fully in charge. One sour note: warning signs about not leaving valuables in your car are plastered everywhere at the entrance. My car was packed with luggage. I asked for a luggage cart. The joke landed nowhere. I also asked about charging my phone and was told there wasn't an option. Found an outlet on the entry building myself. Small thing, but worth knowing. Five stars regardless. Go when they're blooming.
