These days, I look forward to going to the dentist! The entire team at West End Dental is outstanding. A legacy practice, long-term commitment to dental health and professional experience were evident beginning at my first visit. While resolving some complex dental issues, their excellent communication along the way has made all the difference. As well, this communication has made taking care of my dental health at home so much more effective. My advice: Brush, floss, and go to West End Dental!
The care team at West End Dental is fantastic, from the front end gals up front to the providers in the back. I especially enjoy my cleanings-I almost nap every time Deanna’s cleaning my teeth because she is so thorough but gentle. Like a spa but for the mouth.

Disappointing billing experience, lack of accountability and poor quality dental work. In reply to your message below, yes before my account was sent to collections, I tried month after month after month to work with West End Dental’s billing department, to no avail. I was told repeatedly that West End Dental would not work with me in any way, despite initially estimating that my insurance would pay the balance due. Again, this is the worst health care billing experience I’ve ever had. Regarding re-adhering my crown, you’re correct, the crown was originally placed by another dentist. That said, my prior dentist’s work lasted for over 15 years. West End Dental’s work only lasted a few months, and you charged me $354 for it. After West End Dental’s work failed, I had it re-adhered by another dentist, who did so at no charge, and I’ve had not problems since. Initial Post I had a very frustrating experience with West End Dental after what began as a simple misunderstanding with insurance coverage. Before my procedure, the office provided an estimate and I paid my 20% portion, with the understanding that my insurance would cover the remaining 80%. It turned out my plan had a waiting period that neither I nor the office realized at the time, and the claim was denied. I reached out multiple times, offering to pay a reasonable share of the remaining balance, but the office refused to discuss or negotiate in any way. Instead, they sent my account to collections — and when I tried again to resolve it directly, they told me to “contact the collection agency,” which has no authority to adjust anything. This rigid, dismissive approach feels very patient-unfriendly. Honest mistakes can happen with insurance, but a professional, caring practice should be willing to communicate and work toward a fair resolution. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here. 10/14/25 Update - To this date I’ve been willing to work with West End Dental. I’d be willing to pay 1/2 of the amount they told me the insurance company was expected to pay, but they are unwilling to work with me in any way, nor is their collection agency, who I spoke with today, and is now taking me to court. I’ve never worked with any health care provider that was so unsupportive in working through insurance related issues. In addition to their billing issues, the quality of their work is also sub par. They re-cemented a crown that had come lose after 15 years, and it came loose again less than a year later. West End Dental charged me $354 to re-cement the crown and my next dentist did so at no charge.
DR. Ellen worked on & filled my deeper-than-expected cavity. Her technique to anesthetize my tooth was especially careful and kept me pain free during the procedure, also no pain in recovery the next day. As a patient for over 20 years, I highly recommend West End Dental.
When my childhood dentist retired many years ago and his son took over, it didn't go well and I had to make a change. That's when I found West End Dental and Dr. John. I felt even more comfortable with him than I did the only real dentist I ever knew. When Dr. John retired some time ago, I was worried about the same experience. Much to my relief, as much as I loved the care Dr. John delivered, I found I enjoyed Dr. Jim's even more! Combine that with the great preventative care from Deanna and a very professional front office staff, and you have the absolute best dental team around! Thank you, West End Dental!
