Oh my goodness — I am so excited to write this review! I used to come here back when it was the Detroit Science Center in the 90s, and walking in brought back so many nostalgic memories. The lights above the escalator coming out of the movie theater are exactly the same — it instantly took me back to my childhood. I hadn’t been to the Science Center in 30 years, and I had such a wonderful time. The experience was both fun and educational. I loved how many staff members were actively engaging with the kids — teaching them, helping them make crafts, and answering questions. There were so many great areas to explore — from the cave exhibits to the educational zones — and we spent hours there without ever getting bored. I even decided to become a member because we enjoyed it so much! The only reason I took off one star is because the Halloween light show was a bit of a letdown. We ended up leaving early, and honestly, it wasn’t worth the extra $3 in my opinion. Other than that small hiccup, everything else was fantastic. A solid 4 out of 5 stars — and I’ll definitely be back!
A lot of the exhibits are still not functioning or limited on the number of kids being able to construct things... like one marble for 6 panels to make a marble run. Kids hogging the video games. Even waiting and coming back same kids were there. Activity tables lacked enough supplies for more than 4 kids to do stuff. Parents took over the chairs. Interactive areas were acting faulty, not registering the kids touch. To many field trips scheduled at the same arrival time not staggered enough between them. Then no clear signage either for field trips to enter in a certain spot. The best part was the lovely woman who helped give us directions before we entered the chaos to keep ourselves safe in the museum. She was a bright spot for the whole museum. When we attempted to interact with the DaVinci stuff staff intervened. Then they had a guessing game, couldn't hear what was going on, how to participate, it was definitely a struggle. Makes it hard to support the museum when not on a field trip

Super cool museum with really fun exhibits and an awesome layout. Very open concept so hard to keep track of little kids who wander- but overall my 4 and 6 year olds loved it.
If you’re looking for a way to bond with your family (ionic or covalent, take your pick), the Michigan Science Center is the absolute solution. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the potential energy in the room; the staff has incredible chemistry with the audience, and the live demonstrations are truly sublime. I tried to learn about the electricity exhibits, which were shockingly informative, though I’d tell you a joke about the vacuum display, but it sucks. Whether you’re exploring the stars in the planetarium—I tried to throw a party there, but I couldn't planet—or diving into the physics of motion, the experience is a 10 on the pH scale (totally basic fun, but with high energy). Don’t be inert and stay home; visiting this museum is a matter of great importance, and I’m positive (like a proton!) that you'll have a blast.
An excellent experience for all ages the planetarium is the largest HD TV in Detroit. Great interactive science show in the middle making learning fun. Minus 1 star for the eating area has a vending machine that was basically empty but plus a star for having a store on the main floor with beverages and snacks. Easter egg see if you can find Yoda it's a good planetary experience. . Like I said fun for all ages I'm biased because astrology is fun for me.
