It was a fantastic experience going here. We went to celebrate with a “Bachelor Dinner” for a gentleman who was just married. The service was great and they were very friendly and quick with what they did. Checked on us a lot. The food was amazing. The sauce they used on the King Salmon and the pumpkin gnocchi beneath it was phenomenal. Highly recommended place to eat. The view of the city from where we sat was a great sight to see too. They have valet if you can’t find parking outside. Go with a group and have a great time
I went for dinner and everything from the food to the service, to the amazing skyline view was simply outstanding. The moment I walked in, the team made me feel genuinely welcome. Giovanni, my server, was incredible, knowledgeable, patient, and took the time to explain every dish and cocktail without ever making me feel rushed. Mick, the GM, was equally wonderful and made sure everything was perfect throughout the evening. I tried one of their cocktails, the out-of-menu shrimp, risotto, and crab - every bite was phenomenal. The focaccia bread and butter alone were heavenly! The attention to detail, presentation, and warmth of the staff made the entire experience unforgettable. If you’re in Pittsburgh and looking for a place that combines world-class food with thoughtful service and a stunning atmosphere, Altius should be at the very top of your list. Highly recommend! Will visit again.

Overall was disappointed. Hype without substance. Of course the Pittsburgh skyline view is spectacular; with the Duquesne Incline as an extra treat. The service was good but at this price point the waiter should not need to be reminded to bring things. He also had us questioning if he knew we were still there he'd disappear for so long. The restaurant tries way too hard to be upscale with attempts to be showy and memorable albeit failed. In their efforts to be fancy, they try serving dishes simultaneously but it was clunky and each course came out at a glacial pace. Moreover, it was haphazard as to what was worth the wait. Meatball appetizer was exceptional; yet the filet mignon was cooked incorrectly, cold and wasn't melt in your mouth delicious. The scallops were awesome yet everything else wasn't worth coming back for. Truly let down by the experience and would never consider returning. Just visit the Incline or Mt Lebanon vistas to appreciate view. There are other establishments up here that will always deliver delicious food, as well as, the view. Recommend Valet ($9) or Uber.
Came here for my birthday and Altius did not disappoint. The Footprints Farm Chicken and the NY Strip were both 10/10. We also highly recommend the charcuterie board to start. The cocktails were expert-level and the service was seamless. Best of all? You can’t beat that view of the city. I was so full I couldn’t even manage dessert.. a sign of a great meal!
We went for the New Year’s Eve course menu for 2026! We just got engaged before attending. Our waiter was very nice and knowledgeable about the menu. They started us out with truffle pepper popcorn. Really yummy and more interesting than bread. Then we ate a delicious cream-cheese roe filled cone - loved it. Our first course was meatballs and heron point crab toast. The meatballs were filled with cheese - sauce tasted authentically Italian. The toast tasted okay but we’ve had that before elsewhere much cheaper. The soup courses - lobster and mushroom tasted FABULOUS. SO DELICIOUS!!!! Def recommend. Main courses were steak and sea bass. Both were adequate - steak’s truffle side wasn’t to my liking but perhaps another person would enjoy - texture tasted too sticky. I also thought that the sauce on the carrots overpowered the dish for me - tasted more like sour cream chip dip than a sophisticated sauce. Steak cooked and seasoned very well. Sea bass fell apart in our mouths - excellent. Desserts lovely - we don’t drink alcohol so the frozen champagne in the coconut vanilla mouse took over the dish. Flourless chocolate cake a little dry but gooey. It contained these cream covered chocolate balls that tasted SPECTACULAR - soft and creamy, but the walnut inside ruined the texture and had no taste compared to the richness of the cream. View is amazing but this restaurant is not handicap friendly so that is why I gave it a 4/5.
