For any students commuting to Newark OSU, learn from my mistake before spending money on a lawyer for a traffic ticket. About 2 months ago, I got pulled over for speeding on my way to campus and decided to hire this office to represent me in Newark Municipal Court. Honestly, it ended up being one of the biggest wastes of money I’ve ever spent. This wasn’t even my first option. I called several law offices beforehand, and most of them didn’t want to take the case. One office was actually honest with me and explained that Newark Municipal Court usually doesn’t negotiate or offer plea deals on these types of cases. I respected that honesty. The attorney I hired from this office charged me $750, and I genuinely feel like nothing was done for me. When we got to court, the attorney barely seemed to know who I was. There was little to no communication, and it honestly felt like I was just another file on the desk. What really frustrated me was seeing the prosecutor casually laughing and talking with the troopers before court started. Whether people want to admit it or not, it definitely felt like they all knew each other well, and the whole situation already felt decided before anyone even sat down. At the end of the day, I’m sharing this so other students don’t waste their money like I did. In my opinion, you’re better off just taking the online driving course and getting points reduced from your license instead of paying hundreds to an attorney who isn’t going to make a difference in Newark traffic court. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!
