Museum of Pop Culture

This was an unplanned visit when visting the Space Needle, and so glad I dropped in. They have created a really immersive event in a huge space. Set out into specific themes and done to a really high standard. There is so much to see hear and touch with super interesting facts and exhibits. My personal favourite was the Science Fiction zone, they have done this to an incredible standard and filled it with great pieces. You could spend a lot of time wandering about and really enjoying the pop culture vibe. If you are in the area definitely give this a go, visited on a public holiday, no wait for tickets or entry.

The Museum of Pop Culture is definitely one of the most interesting and unique museums to visit in Seattle. Even the building itself is worth seeing because the architecture is so unusual and colorful, and once you go inside there is much more to explore than I expected. What I enjoyed most is the variety. It is not just a museum about music. There are exhibitions connected to rock, grunge, famous musicians, movies, television, science fiction, fantasy, horror, costumes, instruments and many different aspects of popular culture. You can easily spend several hours here because every section has something completely different to see. Some areas are very visual and immersive, while others have original objects, memorabilia, costumes, photographs and information that you can actually stop and read. Of course, being in Seattle makes the music sections especially interesting. The city has such an important connection with grunge and alternative music, so seeing that part of its cultural history represented in a museum feels particularly appropriate. Even if you are not a huge music fan, there is enough variety that you will probably find an exhibition that interests you. I also really liked that the museum does not feel like a traditional museum where you simply walk from painting to painting. It is much more dynamic and entertaining, with different spaces, sounds, colors and interactive elements. There is always something catching your attention. The location is also excellent, right next to the Space Needle, so it is very easy to combine both attractions on the same day. I would recommend allowing at least two or three hours if you actually want to explore the exhibitions instead of rushing through them. Overall, this was one of my favorite cultural attractions in Seattle. Fun, unusual, very well presented and full of things to discover. Definitely worth visiting, especially if you are interested in music, cinema or pop culture in general.
