Visited in April of 2025. A great diversity of animals and exhibits. Gift shop had a lot of cool things for animal enthusiasts and gift givers. Only negative was that it was so hot that many of the animals were either sleeping or hiding, especially the bigger animals that one would expect to see at a zoo. Will definitely visit again someday, but will aim for the offseason/cooler months!
The Phoenix Zoo was a nice visit overall. It has an impressive variety of animals, including several species I had never seen before. The zoo was clean, well maintained, and easy to navigate. I also appreciated that they offer a small student discount: just show your college student ID. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the Arizona heat was intense during my visit, and many of the animals were staying in the shade or out of sight. Of course, that’s understandable given the weather, but it did make it harder to see some exhibits. Overall, it’s a great zoo and worth a visit if you’re in the Phoenix area.

Had a great time. They take your picture as you walk in, you can purchase. They turned out great. Was a bit hot but if you get there early and bring plenty of water, you'll have a great time. Many diff animals to see. Really wanted to do a camel ride but too hot for them. :)
The zoo was really nice! the animals were active and good while we were there. Great variety of animals and loved the big cats! The exhibits are spread out so definitely wear good shoes and bring water. Super hot in March at 103 degrees. Liked all the little water play areas for the kids and we as adults jumped in too to cool off The entrance ticket was a little pricey especially if you’re coming as a family or out of towner. Looks like they’re really pushing the annual pass for locals
The Phoenix Zoo is such an amazing place to spend the day with family and friends! There are so many places to walk through and animals to see! You can feed giraffes, ride camels, pet the goats and do more exclusive behind the scenes animal activities! The kids area is perfect for letting your kids run around and play. They also have splash pads for them to cool down and have fun! Family memberships are the absolute best value for any activity around town! It literally pays for itself and makes it seem like you're going for free after just a couple of trips! We love taking our kids on random weekends to just walk around and spend time together!
