As the photographer behind Luz y Vida Photography, I've visited Papago Park more times than I can count, and it never disappoints. It's easily one of my favorite locations in Arizona for photography. What I love most is how many different backdrops you can find within the park. Whether you're planning a proposal, graduation session, maternity photos, family portraits, or couples' photos, there's always a spot that fits the occasion. From the iconic red rock formations to the desert trails and wide-open views, every visit offers something a little different. It's no surprise that Papago Park is such a popular destination for photographers. Even with how well-known it is, it's easy to find beautiful locations that make every session feel unique. If you're looking for a scenic Arizona location with incredible desert views and endless photo opportunities, Papago Park is hard to beat. It's one of those places I always look forward to returning to with my clients at Luz y Vida Photography.
Such awesome mtns. Great to explore in early am. Make sure to bring plenty if water & wet cloth for around your neck when it's warm out to keep from getting sick from heat!! Have fun. Several areas to explore from between Tempe & Scottsdale. Took these pics off of McDowal & 68th st. Such an awesome sunrise! No touch up at all.

Papago Park is one of Phoenix’s most iconic landmarks and a perfect quick outdoor stop for families. The hike is short, easy, and suitable for both adults and kids, making it a relaxing way to enjoy the desert scenery without needing a long trek. The famous rock formations and viewpoints are great for photos, and the whole visit—including walking and taking pictures—can easily be done in around 20 minutes.
I recently spent some time at Papago Park in Phoenix, and it was a really enjoyable visit. The park has unique red rock formations that are fun to explore and great for photos. I took a few easy trails and enjoyed the views without feeling too rushed or crowded. There are plenty of open spaces and picnic areas, which made it easy to relax and enjoy the desert scenery. It’s a nice spot to get outside, stretch your legs, and take in some natural beauty right in the city.
Wow. Just an amazing place to watch the sun set over Phoenix and central AZ. The Hole In The Rock provides a great vantage point, but the "hole" itself gets crowded. You have the same view watching the sunset from outside the hole. A must-see spot when visiting the Phoenix area. Only about a 15-20 minute drive from downtown.
