We had a fantastic meal at Church and Union Charlotte for Father's Day last night. We had high hopes and expectations and were not disappointed. The ambiance was great, very open but definitely not too loud, lots of natural light but not too bright, lots to look at. I loved trying to read the cryptic writing on the window frames and ceiling, lots of deep messaging there. We had the Nola shrimp, Moroccan meatballs, and chicken karaage appetizers. They were all fantastic! There was so much chicken in the chicken karaage that we wound up taking leftovers home with us. I had the PEI mussels as my entree and the portion was unexpectedly large and the mussels were delightfully fresh and delicious, the sauce had a bit of heat and was so flavorful. Daughter ordered the roasted salmon and loved it, I had a bite and it was wonderful, so tender. Dad had the seared ahi tuna. He said he loved the tuna but his favorite part of the dish was actually the sticky rice for how it was prepared and how it tasted. Our server Jeremy and other service staff were fantastic, and I am sure that the staff in the kitchen and chef Brad were working hard to prepare such an amazing meal. We'll definitely come back!
Food 2/10 Service 10/10 Atmosphere 8/10 Went for my birthday for the first time. I ordered the French toast.. it was nothing special at all, others in my party ordered the steak and eggs medium well on the steak.. the steak was well done and dry! I don’t mind paying the price, but the quality of the food has to match that and they fell short! However our waiter was great! I would come back for the drinks, but that’s all.

I had such a wonderful experience at Church and Union. From the moment I sat down, I felt welcomed and cared for. Our server, Harold, went above and beyond in every detail—his attentiveness, kindness, and professionalism made the evening truly special. He anticipated our needs before we even asked, guided us through the menu with great recommendations, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. It’s rare to find service that feels both genuine and exceptional, but Harold exceeded all expectations. The food and atmosphere were fantastic, but his service is what really made the night memorable. I left not only impressed but grateful for such a great experience. Highly recommend Church and Union, and if you’re lucky enough to have Harold as your server, you’re in for an amazing time!
We visited for breakfast/brunch. This is a premier location in walking distance from some of the local hotels in uptown. We made reservations online and were greeted quickly. The ambiance is great!! The selection of breakfast items were also sufficient. I ordered the Queen City Breakfast and my husband the Fried Chicken Sandwich. I subbed my eggs for egg whites and a biscuit. This was a solid breakfast!! The home fries were my favorite. I have nothing negative to say about my order. It’s your typical American breakfast. My husband’s chicken sandwich was great. He confirmed it to have a good crunch and flavor. We weren’t a fan of the cheese grits. The texture is southern but the flavor was a complete miss. If you’re looking for a solid breakfast/brunch with minimal but solid options, this is your place. If you’re looking for the “glitzy” breakfast options and flavors, this isn’t it.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ I've been to Church and Union several times for dinner and once for brunch, and one thing I can say is that it's consistently good. The food has always been solid. I've never had a bad meal, and the quality is reliably consistent from visit to visit. That said, it's not a restaurant I'd go out of my way to visit just for the food. If it's nearby or someone suggests it, I'm always happy to go, but it isn't one of those places I find myself craving. The same goes for the drinks. They have a nice selection of craft cocktails, which I always appreciate, and everything I've ordered has been well made. They're enjoyable and dependable, even if they haven't been especially memorable. Where Church and Union really shines is the atmosphere. The space has a modern, trendy feel with a lively energy that makes it a great spot for date nights, celebrations, or group dinners. It's the kind of restaurant that's easy to recommend because you know you're going to have a good overall experience. If you're looking for a fun night out with good food, good cocktails, and a great atmosphere, Church and Union is a solid choice.
