Whiskey Bird

I had a small graduation party with 15 guests here in their Canopy Room. Everything from the atmosphere to the service to the food was outstanding. Dylan gave us excellent service, the food and drinks were superb (my daughter said they were the best deviled eggs she’s ever had), and the congratulations card given to her signed by the staff was a really thoughtful touch. All the guests raved about it, even my very picky mother. Standouts were the deviled eggs, okonomiyaki fries, chicken and (bubble) waffles, and the bao Benedict, but everything we ordered was delicious. Recommend the iced Caribbean coffee if you like coconut and cinnamon! I’d definitely have another event at Whiskey Bird, and eat brunch there anytime.

My husband and I visited Whiskey Bird for dinner last Friday after seeing the strong reviews online. The restaurant was packed, which made us optimistic, but unfortunately our experience ended up being disappointing. We were seated outside next to a table with a dog. Because it had been raining, the area had a strong wet-dog odor that lingered throughout our meal. For a restaurant at this price point, I don’t think that’s an acceptable dining environment. I also found the menu somewhat limited in terms of appealing options. I ordered the crispy brussels, which arrived covered in so many bonito flakes that it overwhelmed the dish. My husband ordered the bourbon roasted salmon, which was quite good, at least initially. The biggest issue came when a waitress sprayed down the table next to us while the wind was blowing directly toward our table. The cleaning spray drifted onto us and my husband’s food. We had to get up and find our waiter to address the situation. He handled it professionally and comped what he could, which we appreciated, but the damage to the experience had already been done. While the staff member who helped us did his best to make things right, the combination of the outdoor seating conditions, disappointing food, and the cleaning spray incident means we won’t be returning. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend Whiskey Bird based on our experience.
