Ludi's Restaurant

This place was recommended to us by several of our friends who have been or previously lived in Seattle prior to us visiting, so it was already high on our must-visit places. If you are looking for a great Filipino restaurant in the downtown Seattle area, this is one place you have to eat at. The portions were massive...so much so that I think for some of the dishes like the combo-silog they should advertise that one plate is enough for two people. It seems that everything to include the lumpia is made in-house. If you are there and can't decide on what to get, I recommend the combo-silog since it's almost like a sampler platter of the typical silog (egg to order and garlic fried rice) with two types of longinosa (pampanga and ilocos style), and fried pork chop, and lumpia. My family went through all the dishes pictured (including some that weren't like the loco moco and French Toast, including my youngest who is the picky eater in the family. There was not a single thumbs down in any of the dishes with their massive portions that we ordered. I'm just glad we didn't order the halo halo as we found out afterwards that it is made as a shareable portion (supposed to serve about three). We are planning on trying that on our visit here again before we fly out as well as their signature ube pancakes, so expect an update to this review. Great food is made even better with great service, and the staff here is amazing. We even had the current owner, "Tito" Greg, stop by, and he was very down to earth and spent a decent amount of time talking with us and making us feel very welcome. The rest of the staff was very accommodating as well, and it truly felt like I was dining at a relative's place. The place is decorated with a lot of moment O's covering the history and evolution of Ludi's from when it was first called Turf, and lots of pictures of the family who founded the restaurant. I echo the folks who have previously recommend this place and can't recommend it enough! Depending on when you go, the line can be daunting as you order before you are seated, but despite how small the place seems, they seated my family of five relatively quickly (just don't be surprised if you are sharing a table with others, but it's a great way to make new friends). We are definitely coming back during this visit and future trips to Seattle!
